Great day out
This was a spur of the moment decision while on holiday.
When I arrived at pro shop staff were brilliant getting me fixed up with cards and a bucket of balls for driving range.
Course was in great condition (my game wasn't) members were a friendly bunch all in all a great experience.
Due to having leave immediately after my game I could not really grade the clubhouse but the bits I seen were fine (locker room and toilet) and all vivid measures were in place and clearly marked
Parkland course with good variation only 3 par 3s
Excellent course worth playing greens very consistent tidy overall appearance
Worst slow play I've ever seen
Our tee time was 4.22, walked to the tee at 4.20, 4 ball was still on the tee. We could see they had some beginners in their group, driving 40 yards off the tee so thought we will get to play through at some point. They were raking about in the rough looking for a ball for about 6-7 minutes whilst we stood on the tee, by this time another group were behind us waiting to tee off. They were eventually out of range so we played. When we finished the hole they were still only 50 yards off the tee, no offer to play through at all. This pattern went on for all 18 holes, we waited on most tees whilst they looked for balls in the rough. The group behind us walked off the course! We eventually got finished struggling to see the ball as it was dark. We were a 2 ball, having played Haddington several times over the last 3 months, averaging 3 hours a round. This took us 4 hours and 10 minutes. Completely ruined the experience and unfortunately I doubt we will return after this.
Back again
Played this course 3 weeks ago and loved it, so had to return.
Fairways and greens in great condition. Staff very welcoming and made you feel appreciated.
Only negative thing about this is my Garmin and TomTom watches still didn’t pick up the new layout of the course, which rendered them useless.
Pace of play was slower than usual on front 9, joined guy in front on 9th and two groups in front finished after this hole.
All round an excellent day at this course and would recommend to anyone.
A surprise new layout
The course played ok, the greens need some TLC, the pace was good, it took us under 3 and half hours with a four some in front. I did find the cost of hiring a buggy on the expensive side, £26, if it is an necessity for a player to hire one and they have proof of being disabled, there should be some relief or discount.
Had it in
Very warm welcome when I arrived from staff at the Pro shop.
Explained layout of course which had changed recently, Garmin watch had not been updated to new layout, so had to switch off)
Tees were well marked out, fairways were in good condition although a lot of unreplaced divots throughout the course.
Greens were excellent and the best I had putted for a while.
Some interesting holes and really enjoyable time playing.
I would recommend playing here to anyone.
Much improved
Lovely parkland setting with the 'new' layout a big improvement from my last visit - better signage would help visitors. The course was in good condition with the rough being particularly challenging for those of us allergic to fairways. The only significant downside was the pace of play with the group in front falling two holes behind and being unwilling to let anyone play through.
great day out
myself and my step son had a great day and a good laugh ,high scores as we have not played for over a year .
Haddington G.C
Absolute pleasure they have changed the layout of the course and for what they have done has made it much better from the pro shop at the start to coming off the 18th at the end was a fantastic day for £20 well done Haddington G.C. We will be back
Haddington
Haven’t played this course for 20 years and it’s still as beautiful as it was back then. Thanks you so much to the course pro who was really helpful and accommodating. Would definitely recommend..
Average Course
Very friendly staff. The greens were slow & spotty. OK fairways and tees. Some interesting buildings on the property
The day was totally ruined by being stuck behind a party of thirty odd players in four balls playing a match of some sort we gave up after 4 hours after 14 holes.
The course is fairly average and I don’t think it was value for money and I certainly wouldn’t pay £50 For the privilege
Haddington golf course - autumn round of golf
Really enjoyed a game at a scenic Haddington Golf course in early Autumn. Staff could not have been more helpful. I play a lot of links golf and fancied a game on an inland course, this one is under-rated in my view. Very good driving course and some tricky approach shots. Greens good.
Great condition
Course condition very good, nice to play par 3s where you can play an Iron instead of a wood. We had a buggy and were fortunate to be waved through by the four ball in front. Greens were in good condition considering the dry weather we have had, but very difficult to read. This is not the longest course but still a challenge. Well worth a try.
Great condition
Played many times b4 probably the best I’ve seen the course green staff keep up the good work and could have a new member.and loving the new water hazard on front 9
Fantastic course, super pro shop & excellent catering
This is an excellent parkland course with many exciting holes. The very friendly staff and members enhanced our experience by making the course very welcoming. I especially love the water features and the new burn along the front of the 3rd green. The pro shop is very well stocked and there's also a new indoor golf studio. We finished off our day with a superbly presented and very tasty meal. I would very much recommend this course to anyone thinking of golfing in East Lothian.
