About
Marshall Canyon Golf Course is nestled within the scenic foothills that overlook La Verne. The course is seemingly short at 6,110 yards from the back tees but it's not to be underestimated. The hilly terrain provides more than enough uneven lies and blind shots. The fast greens are also some of the toughest in the area but they are nicely balanced by wide, player-friendly fairways. The hard-to-read greens have subtle but tricky breaks that get easier once you've played the golf course before but even then, they still present some challenges. Marshall Canyon is a local favorite not only for the challenging round but also because it's a good value with great scenery. Golfers can enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding countryside and will often catch a glimpse of the many deer that roam the course.

Pace of play was bad
I love playing Marshall canyon but not when it takes 5 hours.
Tough Greens
I hadn't played here in years. Thought I'd try it again. The layout is decent. But the course isn't in the greatest condition. I hit a few balls off the fairway, but barely in the rough and couldn't find them. I even saw where they went. But for me, the greens are just too crazy. They are all slanted in one way or another. None were remotely flat. I'm talking big slants. So for me it wasn't enjoyable.
Great course, but terrible pace of play
Course was great, especially for the price. Conditions were good, greens were great. Fun layout and some nice views. However, pace of play was atrocious. 5:15 round for a 9:45am Saturday tee time. Also, cash only for beverage cart on the course, which is a huge inconvenience. That’s costing the course money and the cart person money.
Sand on the Greens
Unbeknownst to the players, Marshall Canyon sanded the greens without notice. I’d hold off playing this course for 1 to 2 weeks until the greens recover.
Just Golf
Played on Monday 4/11 and had an enjoyable round. Pace was decent. Course conditions were about average. I always enjoy the layout and various holes that make the course worth playing.
Greens are no bueno!
Course is in decent shape but the greens are about as sandy as the beach right now
Great course … but not right now
The greens were just aerated and sanded. I would hold off playing this course for the next three weeks. Once the greens get back in shape, it’s a fun course.
Course hid notification of greens being punched on Monday this week
Very frustrated because we showed up to the course and we get on to the first tee and then we get to the green and find out that all greens were just punched 3 days earlier but no notification was posted online when booking it through golfnow. Spoke to the starter on our way to #10 and he told us that unfortunately management has decided not to notify golfers that Greens were punched three days prior. Very deceptive and unbelievable they charged us full price.
Ehh
Fairways were terrible. Almost no existent compared to normal rough. Greens were mixed fast and slow with different heights with there extreme slopes it become very unmanagable. The course had promise but needs a lot of TLC.
