Marshall Canyon Golf Club
About
Marshall Canyon Golf Course is nestled within the scenic foothills that overlook La Verne. The course is seemingly short at 6,110 yards from the back tees but it's not to be underestimated. The hilly terrain provides more than enough uneven lies and blind shots. The fast greens are also some of the toughest in the area but they are nicely balanced by wide, player-friendly fairways. The hard-to-read greens have subtle but tricky breaks that get easier once you've played the golf course before but even then, they still present some challenges. Marshall Canyon is a local favorite not only for the challenging round but also because it's a good value with great scenery. Golfers can enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding countryside and will often catch a glimpse of the many deer that roam the course.

Pace of Play
Course in good condition. Greens were just arrerated. Slow play kills the fun, but still worthy to come on out.
Staff is very friendly
Marshall golf
Pace of play was very bad. Started 120pm and left after 15th at 6pm. 5 1/2 hours of golf too long and not even finish. Need a marshall to keep up pace of play. Too many people trying to play tournament golf instead enjoy golf. It is too bad, it was great day for golf and course was good.
Not worth the money!
I’ve played this course many times over the years. Yesterday was my worst experience. Paying over $60 for a course that’s under a lot of construction is unacceptable. And it was also the first time that I had to share a cart with a complete stranger!? To top if all off, there’s no staff on the course to manage traffic and pace of play. We had to wait not on every hole, but every single shot!! The round took over a brutal 6 hours to complete!!! Think twice before you book!!
Paid cart fee but have to walk
Booked and paid for the green fee and included cart, but all players had to walk as the course refused to offer carts. There was not hole cup in hole#1. some fairways were broken by rain and under construction.
Marshal Canyon GC
Not happy with Marshal Canyon Golf Course
The Pace of play was terrible. It was a 6 hour round, due to people did not care about the pace of play and no marshal to regulate the pace of play. Playing at this course should of been a 4 to 4-1/2 hour round, not 6 hours.
Under construction with no discounts for missing holes and shotty repairs.
Under construction with no discount for missing hole. The areas that were dug up and pipe laid are not repaired correctly by making the effected areas flat without undulating lips and drop offs in 2 foot squares. The cart path has drop offs that jar your teeth. The whole course is full of large divots, bunkers not enforced to rake after entering, no Marshall's to hurry play, I have to give it a 2 star as the morning staff is up themselves.
Nice & fun course
It is very interesting course and the staff is so kind.
Great course! Needs operational improvement…
I’ve played Marshall several times over the past 15 years, and I love this course! The course wanders the hills in a natural layout, the views are amazing, very peaceful, always wildlife around. Layout is challenging, but still enjoyable for high handicappers such as myself. Overall course conditions were good not great, which is how it’s always been. No issue there. The greens are very difficult, you have to know that they will always break away from the mountains, sometimes even seemingly uphill. Greens were the best maintained part of the course for sure.
That being said, the review themes of late are true, at least for weekend play. Tee times were running behind about a half hour due to lack of carts. The kid at the pro shop was doing his best but overwhelmed. I had to step in when a group jumped the “line” and snagged the cart that should have been ours. No fault on them, there was no starter to organize things. A little chaotic at best. Pace of play very slow, stacked up big time on the par 3’s. Today got 12 holes completed in 3.5 hours before it got dark. Could have probably squeezed out 2 more if there wasn’t such a log jam of groups ahead. Did not encounter any closed holes, but it’s obvious there are improvements and construction ongoing at the course. Which is great! I’m looking forward to seeing the improvements once complete. The policy for single players on the weekend is that you will share a cart with another player in your group…. I was anxious about this when I was told at check in, however, I lucked out and got paired up with a really nice family. I do hope they get more carts so that singles can have their own for comfort and more importantly improved pace of play! Also to eliminate the silly 30 min wait for a cart…
At the moment course operations, tee time management, and amount of carts available all seem to be real issues. I’ll be coming back to play here for sure! Love the course! I’m just gonna give them some time to get the course improvements complete, and figure the operations out.
Rainy day golf
This was just the workout I needed. Rainsuit held up very well, cart cover and heater was excellent. Wife was happy and dry. No worries about pace of play, course got a bit soggy. But overall the experience was just fine. I'll be back on a warmer sunny day. Staff was friendly. Course is always in good condition, natural terrain.
