Marshall Canyon Golf Course is nestled within the scenic foothills that overlook La Verne. The course is seemingly short at 6,110 yards from the back tees but it's not to be underestimated. The hilly terrain provides more than enough uneven lies and blind shots. The fast greens are also some of the toughest in the area but they are nicely balanced by wide, player-friendly fairways. The hard-to-read greens have subtle but tricky breaks that get easier once you've played the golf course before but even then, they still present some challenges. Marshall Canyon is a local favorite not only for the challenging round but also because it's a good value with great scenery. Golfers can enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding countryside and will often catch a glimpse of the many deer that roam the course.

Marshall Canyon

The course was in decent shape. The greens are very bumpy and spongy. It is a rare occasion that the ball is on flat land, most fairways are on some kind of slope. Pace of play was horrible, 5 and a half hours. I had 2 walkers with me and we still had to wait for the 2 groups (in carts) in front of us to hit each time we got to a tee box..There was no Starter or Marshall.

Good course,

1st time playing the course layout is good. Fairways and greens well maintained. Had to wait for the group in front of us on multiple holes, I am not sure if course was overbooked or just got stuck behind a slower group. I had a good time either way

Keep working on the improvements!

This course has long needed improvements. It's good to see that funds are being put back into the course and renovations and improvements are being made. The course still has a long way to go, but will get there if the focus towards improvements continue. PACE OF PLAY SUCKS! GET A MARSHALL TO MOVE PLAYERS ALONG!

Tough day at MC

Let me start by saying I always enjoy coming to Marshall Canyon. It's my home course so I'm a bit bias. The course is in decent condition , and it looks like they are doing more work to improve it, which is great. I know the course well, but today I figured out why the round was 5 hours. It's when the pins are placed in tough spots on multiple greens. I average 32 putts per round, and today I had 36. Downhill putts ran completely off the green even when they were just tapped. I had 2 uphill putts that made a u turn and came back further than where I started. It was not enjoyable.

MC putting is always tough, but this was unfair and slowed the pace of play substantially. Everything else was great. Make the pins more accessible, have more fun, and play faster!

Challenging

If you’re looking for a challenge this is the course. The course as a whole isn’t too bad but the greens are hilly, sloped, and have multiple breaks that are really difficult to spot. I’m sure it’s a fun challenge for some, I just found it frustrating.
