Rating 74.0

The Amelia River Club is located on Amelia Island, just north of Jacksonville and within minutes of the historic town of Fernandina Beach. Renowned as one of the best-conditioned courses in the area with incredibly smooth greens, sculpted around a forest of majestic Live Oaks, Sable Palms, Pines and Wax Myrtles.

This par 72 track, designed by Tom Jackson, plays to a yardage of 6,823 from the back tees. It's pristine condition features well manicured rolling fairways, smooth bunkers and greens that challenge all skill levels. This course is unique in character and is a treat to play.

The Amelia River consists of 18 holes of challenging golf where ball control and accuracy are keys to a great game. The fairways are wide and open, giving the golfer a sense of a traditional Scottish links course on some holes and a narrow tree lined experience on others. The 13th hole is a good example of the course’s challenges. This long par five runs along the border of the Fernandina Beach Airport and is a strategic three shot hole. Too long and left at lay up and you will have to deal with a water hazard. The wind can play havoc with this hole as it reminds one of an open links style design. In contrast #9 is a tree lined par four with very little room for error and includes a forced carry over Alligator Creek.

The signature 17th hole is a par three surrounded by water demanding an accurate shot to the island green which closely resembles another very famous golf hole in our area! The final hole ends at the edge of the Amelia River and its expansive tidal marsh.

Great Course

This was a really great course and an amazing value for the course you get to play. The course has multiple personalities. One hole you have a decent amount of room for error and the next you are deciding which club is the best bang for distance and accuracy. Hole 14 temps you to go for the green. But there is only about 40 yards of safe landing area. Long you are in the woods, short and your ball drowns. I was lucky to have my 3 wood stick the green with about a foot to spare.

The staff is very friendly.

Go play this gem.

Awesome FL Rate

Was able to book easily on GN with FL Rate. The hurricane did not affect the course at all.

Course was in very good condition for all the weather we have had past two weeks. Felt like greens rolled differently though between front and back 9. Play was slower than usual and backed the tees up with groups due to two slow groups in front of us. Will be back though as we really enjoy the staff and course.

Great course

We had 2 threesomes go out and the starter is knowledgeable about the course. The layout is great and condition was fantastic with lots of scoring opportunities but some longer holes to keep you honest. If you can grab a hot deal or are a resident I would highly recommend playing here.

Good Track

Great course for a relaxing round. Most holes will be driver, iron, etc…not too much decision making for shots.

15 is an enticing par four, with green reachable from tee - risk of water or going long. 16 has island green, pretty hole.

Staff were great, looks like a larger clubhouse is underway.

Pleasantly surprised

I was in the area for a wedding and had time to get a round in and found Amelia River Club. When I got there the staff was great. Everything when smooth with early check in and prepay range balls. The course was in great shape. The greens were soft and rolling true. I would recommend this course to anyone in the area or traveling by with time to spare. This course is in better shape than the major I play at home in the palm beach and Broward area.

Pat's First Experience

Well worth the distance traveled and the cost. One of the best manicured Public/Private courses that I've played in northeast FL. Tees, fairways, bunkers and greens ALL in very good shape. Food that was purchased at the grill following the round was top notch!

Great course

The course is nice with wide fairways. The pace was incredibly fast and we finished under 4 hours. The only issue is the busy airport next door. This course has the fastest greens that I have played in the Jacksonville area. They are not ridiculously fast but faster than the slow greens I have play elsewhere.

Nothing Special

Starter took her job way too serious. Spent five minutes rattling off all the do’s and don’ts upon my arrival. Not very welcoming. Honestly this was a nice course in pretty good condition but way overpriced. There were no perks at all. No beverage cart was available even though it was a very hot day. I will not play here again!
