About
The Amelia River Club is located on Amelia Island, just north of Jacksonville and within minutes of the historic town of Fernandina Beach. Renowned as one of the best-conditioned courses in the area with incredibly smooth greens, sculpted around a forest of majestic Live Oaks, Sable Palms, Pines and Wax Myrtles.
This par 72 track, designed by Tom Jackson, plays to a yardage of 6,878 from the back tees. It's pristine condition features well manicured rolling fairways, smooth bunkers and greens that challenge all skill levels. This course is unique in character and is a treat to play.
The Amelia River consists of 18 holes of challenging golf where ball control and accuracy are keys to a great game. The fairways are wide and open, giving the golfer a sense of a traditional Scottish links course on some holes and a narrow tree lined experience on others. The 13th hole is a good example of the course’s challenges. This long par five runs along the border of the Fernandina Beach Airport and is a strategic three shot hole. Too long and left at lay up and you will have to deal with a water hazard. The wind can play havoc with this hole as it reminds one of an open links style design. In contrast #9 is a tree lined par four with very little room for error and includes a forced carry over Alligator Creek.
The signature 17th hole is a par three surrounded by water demanding an accurate shot to the island green which closely resembles another very famous golf hole in our area! The final hole ends at the edge of the Amelia River and its expansive tidal marsh.

Great design and people.
Nice design.. Challenging for single HC but forgiving enough for high handicapped players. Speed of play was good and greens were true and fast.
I definitely will be back. Nice deals on GolfNow for me and my buddies. Club let 92 year old grandfather ride along at No cost even though we needed extra cart. AAA+++

Slow pace of play
Not one ranger on the course the entire time I as there. Slow play was exacerbated by no one from the club pushing slow players to keep up pace. Almost a 5 hour round.

Nice but slow
Very impressed with the condition and layout. Thankfully played with a member who was very informative. Would be nice if course had a “250 yards to water” sign on the tee since you can’t see the water. I’m on vacation so not rushed but it took almost 5 hrs to play, way to long!!

Don't Make Me Share A Cart
Played as a single but was not given an option to have my own cart despite having my clubs on a cart by themselves. Other golfer was a gentlemen but I was not comfortable with where he positioned the cart on almost every hole, etc. This has nothing due to with Covid I am vaxxed, boosted and not worried.
Course was great, fun to play, pace of play was good. I would play again but want my own cart unless playing with friend or family.

Slow Foursome
We played the course for the first time. The first thing you notice is the rough is a sea of dormant Bermuda. The fairways were better but the dormant grass took away from the visual appeal of the course. There was a slow foursome in front of us and no ranger to speed them up. The back nine was excruciating with four groups on one par 5 hole - on the green, two in the fairway and one on the tee. There is no excuse for this. We waited on every hole and the foursome in front of us just meandered along.

Course could be great, but staff inside and bag guys are like they are doing you a favor, even after tipping..
Greens were good with decent speed. Fairways ripped with divots, some fixed, most not
Pace of play, even with ranger sending us thru 1 foursome was unacceptable

My favorite course on/ near Amelia
Course is in great shape. Great layout-a few "thinkers" here. Staff is friendly and helpful. One drawback today was a little congestion on an understandably busy Sunday afternoon- could've had a ranger keeping pace and distance between players. I'll be going back- and bringing friends/ family.

Amazing Course
This course is awesome. The layout is very fun and the staff is super friendly. It isn’t cheap, but always feel like it’s a great value. Greens and tee boxes are almost always in good condition.
