About
The Amelia River Club is located on Amelia Island, just north of Jacksonville and within minutes of the historic town of Fernandina Beach. Renowned as one of the best-conditioned courses in the area with incredibly smooth greens, sculpted around a forest of majestic Live Oaks, Sable Palms, Pines and Wax Myrtles.
This par 72 track, designed by Tom Jackson, plays to a yardage of 6,823 from the back tees. It's pristine condition features well manicured rolling fairways, smooth bunkers and greens that challenge all skill levels. This course is unique in character and is a treat to play.
The Amelia River consists of 18 holes of challenging golf where ball control and accuracy are keys to a great game. The fairways are wide and open, giving the golfer a sense of a traditional Scottish links course on some holes and a narrow tree lined experience on others. The 13th hole is a good example of the course’s challenges. This long par five runs along the border of the Fernandina Beach Airport and is a strategic three shot hole. Too long and left at lay up and you will have to deal with a water hazard. The wind can play havoc with this hole as it reminds one of an open links style design. In contrast #9 is a tree lined par four with very little room for error and includes a forced carry over Alligator Creek.
The signature 17th hole is a par three surrounded by water demanding an accurate shot to the island green which closely resembles another very famous golf hole in our area! The final hole ends at the edge of the Amelia River and its expansive tidal marsh.

A Must Play
Great Course overall. The staff is always nice and helpful. The fairways were just right and the greens were almost perfect. Of all the courses I have played in jacksonville area I would rate this course in my top 5.

Course is in bad shape
The fairways are brown. The greens are as hard as table tops. Front 9 goes along a municipal airport expect take offs and landings in your back swing. There’s no guide to the layouts / design of each hole on the scorecard, at the tee boxes or in the cart. At the 8th hole another golfer told me you have to download the course App. Would have been great to know from the starter or pro shop.

Amelia Rivet
Beautiful course on a lovely day, however it was backed up and two jerks behind us kept hitting into us KNOWING we were waiting ourselves. At one point on a sharp angled par four they drove toward the green OVER our heads when we had not even started putting, so I had harsh words with the young man who came up to apologize, telling him he didn’t yell fore. Ruined the round for me.
We apologize for the pace of play issue you experienced. We always try to keep a great pace when having our golfers on the course. Great Public Course...Great Greens
We spent 5 days on Amelia Island. This course was in the best condition of all the courses we played. Best greens by far. Rolled about 10 on the stimp...firm, fast. Whoever their greenskeeper is....they need to give him a raise. Nice layout. Great to not have to play amongst the houses....would definitely play this course again.

A must play
Amelia river club is a great course that should not be overlooked if you are in the area. From the layout to the conditions you will not be disappointed. The greens were true and rolling around an 11 this day. Steak is very helpful and the starter Mrs. Betsy is a true gem. Will definitely return.
