About
The Amelia River Club is located on Amelia Island, just north of Jacksonville and within minutes of the historic town of Fernandina Beach. Renowned as one of the best-conditioned courses in the area with incredibly smooth greens, sculpted around a forest of majestic Live Oaks, Sable Palms, Pines and Wax Myrtles.
This par 72 track, designed by Tom Jackson, plays to a yardage of 6,823 from the back tees. It's pristine condition features well manicured rolling fairways, smooth bunkers and greens that challenge all skill levels. This course is unique in character and is a treat to play.
The Amelia River consists of 18 holes of challenging golf where ball control and accuracy are keys to a great game. The fairways are wide and open, giving the golfer a sense of a traditional Scottish links course on some holes and a narrow tree lined experience on others. The 13th hole is a good example of the course’s challenges. This long par five runs along the border of the Fernandina Beach Airport and is a strategic three shot hole. Too long and left at lay up and you will have to deal with a water hazard. The wind can play havoc with this hole as it reminds one of an open links style design. In contrast #9 is a tree lined par four with very little room for error and includes a forced carry over Alligator Creek.
The signature 17th hole is a par three surrounded by water demanding an accurate shot to the island green which closely resembles another very famous golf hole in our area! The final hole ends at the edge of the Amelia River and its expansive tidal marsh.

Great Course!!!!
If you're ever in the Metro Jacksonville area, you have to play this gem of a course!!
The layout, the scenery, the greens, are all superb. You'll have to think your way around this course, but it's not ridiculously difficult.

Course is in perfect shape
If you are looking for a course with excellent turf, this course has it right now. Its firm and fast in the fairways. Greens are fast, but not lightening quick...probably running at about 10 on the stimp if I had to guess. I really enjoy this tough layout...plenty of tees to choose from depending on your level of play. I'm not sure I'd pay the $99 price tag, but was lucky to find some $50 and $60 deals....well worth that price. Even at $99...you're getting great course conditions. I totally recommend it. Aeration is likely coming soon so get out there while you can!

Extremely welcoming staff and a great value
Checked in an hour early and went to the range. Range was very nice but alittle crowded, maybe just a timing thing. Starter was extremely friendly and kept us up to speed on when we’d be going out and also gave us a quick run down on the course and how it plays with the river running through it as it’s reachable but can’t always be seen from some tee boxes. Tee time before ours never showed so we went out early (always a plus in my book). Pace of play was great, caught up to the 4 some ahead of us on 17, and a single caught up to us just a hole before that. Course was in great shape, greens rolled true (although I think they’re aerating soon) and had a variety of hole shapes that really make you have to place it strategically off the tee box to increase your chances at birdie. Overall excellent experience! Will definitely be back.

This is 'bang' for your vacation buck.
I've been playing this course on vacation trips since 2005. This course is now in as good of shape that I've seen since 2009. Great resort course. Come play and have a good time and great round.

Course is absolutely pristine right now tee boxes were on a par with TPC sawgrass working on collars but greens were immaculate very very good condition trending towards excellent

Starter
Starter announced an early start. Hadn’t finished my warmup and still had 15 minutes to my tee time, after paying for practice balls. I still was willing to get out a few minutes early, but no, not good enough. He stood there, arms folded and staring. Excuse me Mr. Starter, please stop, I told you I’d meet you halfway on an early start. Total nonsense, ask next time if I’d be willing, not telling me. I’m the consumer, have a better customer mentality!!
