Good especially for beginners or the challenged
No lakes, a few bunkers here and there and wide fairways. A very forgiving course and fun to play.
Quick Round
I joined up with 2 others for a 3-some and finished the round in 3 hours 26 minutes. My tee time was at 1:25pm and was worried if we can finish 18 holes before it got dark. I was happy that was not a problem. The fairway had some dry patches but was not an issue for play. The putting greens were in good condition and the ball rolled true. Overall, a nice round with no issues to note.

Not bad ...
I'm familiar with the course. I've played here more than 50 rounds over 15 years. Not bad if you like dry, patchy fairways (always), a few too many wet spots, puddles (too much water in some places, not enough in others ... please fix the drainage), bunkers with no sand (some hard, gravely stuff that packs when wet) or bumpy, spongy greens (no one fixes ball marks). The one thing about the course I do like is the layout. A true par 72, a few long long holes into the wind and no water (which helps middle handicappers). It beats a blank.

Best muni course in the South Bay
Living in the South Bay getting to good courses is a pain. This course is nothing spectacular but it's always fun and in decent shape. The par 3s aren't too short, and the par 5s aren't too long. But you can grip it and rip it 14 times and never lose your ball. Overall great value. The range is also good and cheap for LA.

Alondra Park
Not bad, fairways still need grass, sand traps are so hard the score your clubs. Why not fill them.

Better than usual
Greens have gotten better. Fairway was is in okay shape, with lots of hard patches. Looks like they are working hard in maintaining the course which I can appreciate. Greenside bunkers need some help.
Well, it's golf. No starter at first tee. Course rough.
Managed to get a 10:02 tee time for 18 holes only three days in advance so we were stoked. Nice short game practice area. Range balls $6 for 50. Checked in 10 minutes before tee time and told to get in line at first tee. The foursome in line ahead of us had 9:45 tee time. When we got to the front a foursome behind us insisted on teeing off ahead of us. No starter at the first tee. Called the check in and guy told us to let TWO foursomes tee off ahead of us even though they were in line behind us. We teed off at 10:45. Once we got past the par 3 4th hole, place of play picked up a bit. Back nine much quicker. Finished about 3:30.
Course was in poor shape. Greens had not been rolled in weeks. Super bumpy. Teeing areas muddy and pretty hacked up. Not the worst course we've played but reminded me why we don't play here as much as we used to. Nice to be out and hitting the ball but the course condition should be an embarrassment to the staff. Long Beach does a much better job maintaining it's munies than Los Angeles county. And the fiasco at the first tee was...a fiasco.

Can golf be played in the same weather that it was created?

Not this time. “We’re in California” says the starter with extra sass as I attempted to explain that I have played this course on other rainy days and that these are normal conditions if a person is not afraid of a little water.
I was really hoping to play because I like the course a lot and the rain (drizzle) keeps many people away thus eliminating the backup of slow players that often prevents me from finishing in daylight, but was denied on this occasion.
I will continue to play here, but this incident was very annoying.
