Brute at Grand Geneva Resort & Spa
About
Grand Geneva Resort & Spa was ranked in the top 10 northern U.S. golf resorts by Conde Nast Traveler. The resort boasts two championship courses, the Brute and the Highlands. The formidable Brute Course stretches to over 7,000 yards. It is considered one of the toughest golf courses in the Midwest. The layout wanders across rolling terrain, incorporating a variety of elevation changes that range from subtle to dramatic. There are 68 bunkers strategically placed along the massive, undulating greens. The course is aptly named since it will relentlessly test your skills. It is more challenging than the Highlands, which is a links course designed by Jack Nicklaus and Pete Dye. In addition to the two courses, Grand Geneva Resort & Spa also has a practice facility complete with a driving range and putting and chipping greens.

Very Accommodating
Very prepared for concerns about corona virus. Very determined to comply with guidelines. Golf was fun for my granddaughter and myself. I’m 75 and I didn’t feel like a risked my health.
Late in year but course in great shape. Only issue was finding balls amongst the leaves, but that is fall golg.
Challenging but fair!!
Great course and friendly staff!!
Finished 18 in less than 4 hours!!
Brute
Course is nice with lots of false fronts that protect it from loopers who don’t know how to hit a long iron. It’s a good course for a match.
Poor setup
The course layout is not favorable. Greens are impossible to hold balls on and too many blind shots.
Hello, thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We are sorry to see that your overall experience was anything short of 5 stars, but we hope you'll give Brute at Grand Geneva Resort & Spa another try in the near future.
First Class Course
Beautiful course and very well maintained. Everything about this course was first class, including the staff. It has a nice variety of holes and it is very challenging from the white tees. Actually, it was “brutally” hard on the day I played as it was very windy (2-3 clubs worth). Some of the greens also presented significant challenges as they were quite elevated (which required using an extra club or two). All in all, playing this course was very enjoyable and I will certainly do it again when back in the area - but I will pick a less windy day.
A challenging but fun course
Found the Brute to be challenging playing from the white tees ~6500 yds. Large elevation changes typically off the tee offered the chance to go a bit longer than I normally do, and there was often a bunker at or near that great dive position -- Go for it or play safe?
Bunkers and greens were large and well maintained. Not fast-fast greens, but very consistent. If in doubt, they break from back to front.
Staff - very friendly and helpful. Pace was great on the front then caught up for slower foursome; back 9 slower.
Would go back again
Excellent Course
I can’t say enough about the course and the people working there.
The starters and rangers were all excellent, but Kyle Kunash the head pro was so helpful and had friendly.
Loved our stay there and we were able to play both courses. The Brut is definitely the tougher of the two, but both courses were incredibly fun to play.
Beautiful and challenging
Gorgeous course. Layout very challenging. Definitely a must play.
Taking on the Brute
Completed 18 holes in 4 hrs on a Sunday afternoon!
Amazing views on every hole and if you are on the fairway- no bugs, but I learned quickly don’t waste your time looking for your ball in the wooded areas
Look forward to playing this amazing coarse again soon!
Icevski’s
Really enjoyed the round. Super friendly staff great course and pace of play was around 4h on a Sunday!
We are coming back very soon to play again.
Great condition and fun layout
Played after 3pm so had a great rate. Pace of play was good, friendly staff and nice amenities. Course is in great condition. Oh, keep your approach shots below the pin :D
Only complaint is the need for drop zone on 17. It's a forced carry over water unless you're hitting a wedge off the tee. If you rinse one, there is no proper drop zone.
You won’t find much better
What a great golf course. The layout is fantastic with Hills,Curves,Trees,Water and Sand. The fairways are real nice and the Greens run true. One of the top 3 courses I have ever played. I will definitely play here again several times. The staff is friendly and the carts have GPS with ball and club washer
Top of the line place
