Brute at Grand Geneva Resort & Spa
About
Grand Geneva Resort & Spa was ranked in the top 10 northern U.S. golf resorts by Conde Nast Traveler. The resort boasts two championship courses, the Brute and the Highlands. The formidable Brute Course stretches to over 7,000 yards. It is considered one of the toughest golf courses in the Midwest. The layout wanders across rolling terrain, incorporating a variety of elevation changes that range from subtle to dramatic. There are 68 bunkers strategically placed along the massive, undulating greens. The course is aptly named since it will relentlessly test your skills. It is more challenging than the Highlands, which is a links course designed by Jack Nicklaus and Pete Dye. In addition to the two courses, Grand Geneva Resort & Spa also has a practice facility complete with a driving range and putting and chipping greens.

Golfer Reviews
Golf course design straight out of Mad Men
Almost every aspect of Midcentury Modern design is all the rage today, except, seemingly, golf courses. But The Brute, with its huge elliptical bunkers, enormous tilted oval greens and clever routing that uses Grand Geneva’s lovely parkland property effectively, is cool precisely because of how it leans in the opposite direction from the design trends of the 2020s.
Architect R.B. Harris’ commitment to avoiding holes of the same par whenever possible helps The Brute stay engaging, and the excellent conditioning makes playing the course less brutish than the name would suggest. And the resort and club facilities are on point, providing wonderful hangout spaces and gracious service.
Late October Golf
Greens and tee box were recently aereated which impact play somewhat. The maintenance was nothing out of the ordinary though. Nice layout - late season golf with lots of golfers taking advantage of the nice weather. Bag drop staff was very personal too.
Amazing
Breathtaking, and a perfect amount of challenge. The starter was very engaging.
The Brute
Great course, challenging but not impossible.
No houses, beautiful scenery, lots of wild turkeys, including the ones I played with, LOL. Great fun!
Beautiful Layout
Enjoyed playing The Brute. Elevated tee boxes and greens made for interesting shots. I would play this track again.
