Gary Player at Geneva National Golf Club
About
Geneva National Golf Club boasts three championship courses, each with a notable designer: Gary Player, Arnold Palmer, and Lee Trevino. All three courses sit along the shores of Lake Como and were carved from lush, rolling countryside. The Gary Player Course, along with the Palmer Course, provides the greatest challenges and also some of the best scenery. Water hazards come into play on 12 holes in the form of wandering streams and large lakes. One of the most memorable holes with water is the par-3 16th. There is a lake that wraps almost entirely around the green, giving it the feel and difficulty of an island green. In addition to the water, golfers will also have numerous strategically placed bunkers to contend with. The club is popular with locals but also with visitors since it is only a short drive from metropolitan Chicago and Milwaukee.

The course was challenging and in excellent form.
Although the course is challenging - you can pick your challenge. Being and average golfer we varied our tee box choice to fit our level of challenge. The black tees were definitely out of our league. But to the long hitter those tees looked like fun. The course was in great condition and the employees were a joy to talk with.
Management taking liberties
So I purchased the all day play. When I arrived everything went smooth and I was assigned the course from the tee time and another one of the three. That was a pleasant surprise, and also the last one. I arrived at the starter podium only to be told they were delayed half an hour! Groups were playing obscenely slow and none of the many rangers I saw ever stopped to correct the situation. Slow play and a half hour delay places a certain strain on your ability to make the second tee time and complete 36 holes of golf. I had to skip three holes just to arrive at my next tee time on time. The cause of the issue, as a staffer informed me, was due to a group who were "friends of the GM" doing as they pleased for the second day. Judging by what comments I overheard members discussing on the range...this is truly a top down issue. The course, when maintained properly, offers challenge and forgiveness for any level of player. For the price, and other reviews I expected too much. I will not be returning to this mismanaged and would even urge the three greats who's names adorn their designs to remove those names. Take your money elsewhere, this course is not worth the fees.
Outstanding golf course design which will challenge all levels of golfing ability.
Extremely enjoyable yet challenging golf which we would not have been able to participate in without the great value extended by partnering with GolfNow.
Excellent layout with good mix of holes
Excellent condition for early spring. Great mix if holes that are straight forward. Short par there's mixed with short and long par fours. Long par fives. Scenic setting with each hole having it own space and character From back tees plays over 7,000 yards. Big greens with lots of break and average speed. Best hole is the ninth - par four over 450 yards. Uphill with tiered green sloping left to right and back to front. Great golf hole!
Nice course with good amount of variation from hole to hole.
While the fairways are fairly generous, the water and trees on most holes make wayward shots a problem. Very few straight holes. A lot of left to right or right to left from both the tee box and fairways. It was a very windy day. Naturally, the course would have played much easier with less wind. Also, greens were somewhat hard this early in the season so it was tough getting a shot to the green to stick. Being early in the season, the trees have not yet budded. Course will be very picturesque in the summer and fall
Great offseason value
Any of the Geneva National Courses are well above average, beautiful designs and very challenging.
The Course was fantastic
Paying through Golf now was a great price paying what they want even though its a country club setting still too high
Solid Choice
All three courses at Geneva National will not let you down with expectations. The real key is finding the proper price point at which to enjoy the courses. I'm unwilling to pay more than $90-$100 to play here so Golfnow.com is an excellent choice for a tee time if there are not any specials running. I have no affiliation with the website.
The best track in the Geneva Lakes area
Great course. Multiple tee boxes allow players of every level to enjoy the round. The combination of 3 par 5's and 3 par 3's on the back nine make for some interesting scoring possibilities.
Great course worth the drive
I drove 2.5 hours to this course and it was worth it. The course is in great condition, it offers great challenges and a variety of shots. It offers shots of swamp land, over water, and 1 or 2 blind elevated shots. Great variety and challenges you to think 2 shots ahead, instead of the boring mundane hit the longest club in your bag over and over.
