Gary Player at Geneva National Golf Club
About
Geneva National Golf Club boasts three championship courses, each with a notable designer: Gary Player, Arnold Palmer, and Lee Trevino. All three courses sit along the shores of Lake Como and were carved from lush, rolling countryside. The Gary Player Course, along with the Palmer Course, provides the greatest challenges and also some of the best scenery. Water hazards come into play on 12 holes in the form of wandering streams and large lakes. One of the most memorable holes with water is the par-3 16th. There is a lake that wraps almost entirely around the green, giving it the feel and difficulty of an island green. In addition to the water, golfers will also have numerous strategically placed bunkers to contend with. The club is popular with locals but also with visitors since it is only a short drive from metropolitan Chicago and Milwaukee.

The first Player
Living just north of Lake Geneva and only playing one area course when the opportunity to play a Geneva National course for $60 presented itself I knew I had to jump on the opportunity. At this price point, there was extreme value in the course. With normal weekend rates touching $120 it may be a bit of a stretch but the conditions seemed fair and the holes were interesting and challenging.
Having never been on location and only hearing stories, I assumed it would have been more upscale and stuffy. I was pleasantly surprised when I got there. It was nice and accommodating, the club drop and check in let everyone know the tone for the day. It would be one of the nicer experiences of the year.
The course itself was very interesting to me and the layout kept us engaged all afternoon. Although we were told this was the 3rd of the 3 courses because it wasn't on the lake, it had plenty of views and changes in scenery. The conditions throughout were what you would expect and the greens were rolling really well from what we saw. The greens featured a good amount of movement which as fun to navigate all day. A few of the par 3's seemed to be under construction as the approaches were being removed and used for other parts of the resort. It didn't factor into play at all which you would expect at a place like this.
Overall we really enjoyed or time on the course and enjoyed the bar area for the post round wrap up and discussion. Will certainly put the Palmer and Nicklaus course on the list, but may continue to watch for another deal before splurging on them.
One of the best courses in the area
This is a very cool course with great views of Lake Como. There are large elevation changes and lots of natural wildlife areas. The conditions are always first-class at Geneva National.
The staff is fantastic, even loading your clubs to the cart and bringing them down below. Prime rates are fairly steep; however, they provide great deals in spring/fall, especially for the condition the course is usually in those times of year.
I consider this one of the top 5 courses in SE Wisconsin.
Dont play
There are better courses in the area for less money.
Great Course
I played Palmer course and did a replay at Player course for $30!! awesome price for great course.
Awesome Day
Beautiful day at a stunning course. Only drawback was pace of play.
Have fun!
When you want a almost guarantee that it wil be a great day head out to the Player!
Played Player - nice course.
Very enjoyable. Look forward to playing the other 2 courses.
Nice scenery and variety of hole designs.
Great design with good variety. Scenic views from elevated tees. Very challenging greens. Many elevation changes throughout course. Good amount of difficulty, but the 5 sets of tees allow all golfers to enjoy the course.
beautifully designed and wonderfully maintained
Couldnt have been treated any better. Outstanding golf course

spectacular views and challenges
We recently took a Friday afternoon off work to play and selected this course because it is beautiful and challenging. The staff was super friendly and the pace of play was what we expected. Fun course to play!
Beautiful course!
We both love the Player course at Geneva National.
Course was in very good condition
We played as foursome and never had to wait. The course was in good condition
I've already recommended this course.
My wife and I just spent our entire week vacationing near our home by playing golf that was within one to one and one half hours from our house. This facility ranks near the top of public courses we've played in the US.
Beautiful and challenging layout
My father and I had the last early bird tee time at 7:30 am and for ~$70 bucks a person, the value was great. Regularly this course is $120 during peak hours, which in my opinion, it is still worth it if you're looking to splurge on a nice course on vacation.
We played 3 courses in Lake Geneva over the weekend and we liked this the best. ("The Brute" was also in very good shape, and I would recommend playing it. However, we enjoyed the playability/layout of The Player course better.)
3 par 3's and 3 par 5s on the back nine offers a good chance for scoring.
Loved this course
great place to play
it is always fun to play this course and always get to meet new players. had a blast
lots of elevation changes, beautiful views
probably the prettiest course of the 3 at Geneva National, very playable, very fast big greens, accurate shot making, practise your putting fun course
Loving the game
My partner and i got paired with a couple nice guys from Sun Prairie. Pace of play was excellent, in under 4 hrs, even with a couple rain bursts. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Course was in great shape. Greens rolled very fairly
Challenging & Fun
Two things will make your round more enjoyable. First, pickup the yardage book before you start to help you with some interesting decision making on tee shots and approach shots. Second, make sure you play the correct Tee. There are subtle but significant differences between each tee box. Greens are VERY nice and quick. Great course, challenging and fun round.
One of the finest courses I have played.
Heavy rains delayed our tee time. The staff accomandated us just great, with a tee time shortly after the rain stopped. The course drained off fairly quick. Fairways and greens were in superb shape. I highly recommend Geneva National.
The course was challenging and in excellent form.
Although the course is challenging - you can pick your challenge. Being and average golfer we varied our tee box choice to fit our level of challenge. The black tees were definitely out of our league. But to the long hitter those tees looked like fun. The course was in great condition and the employees were a joy to talk with.
