Irvine: A must play on the Ayrshire coast

A simply outstanding course. Even in calm benign conditions this brilliant course will challenge. Throw in some Scottish weather and you'll need to buy extra balls. The staff are wonderfully hospitable. Thanks for a great day!

All Round Excellence

From the arrival, where Past Captain Jim was waiting to greet me by name, to the clubhouse staff and pro shop, the Team at Irvine provide the end to end experience that is hard to beat. Nothing was too much trouble and all were keen to showcase their course and clubhouse where the members were also kind and engaging with us on the course. I cannot recommend Irvine highly enough and look forward to returning for many years for my special golf outing.

All round brilliance

I played Irvine Golf Club with 3 friends. We are all members of Glasgow Gailes Golf Club so are familiar with links golf. We were met on the practice putting green by committee member Jim (sorry I don't remember Jims surname) who very warmly welcomed us to the golf club. The professional was extremely courteous and helpful too. Nice touch. The course was in absolutely superb condition and the greens fast and true. All you could ask for. I would highly recommend a visit to Itvine Golf Club as you will not be disappointed in your welcome or the course. We will definitely be back. Thanks Irvine for a great experience.

Beautiful Course

What a brilliant course! From the warm welcome given to us in the car park by a past captain to the excellent facilities and superb course it was a top quality golfing experience from start to finish. The course was in brilliant condition, the greens were fantastic and the fairways and tees were maintained to a very high standard. The staff in the clubhouse were extremely friendly and helpful, and the toilets and showers were stunning! A great day out and would highly recommend a round here for any keen golfers. Some brilliant holes with a good mixture of lengths and levels of difficulty! Superb!

Must play course!

After visiting the open at Troon over the weekend my son and I wanted to enjoy a good links course. We couldn't have chosen better! After being met at the Pro shop by Jim we were given a very friendly welcome including a tour of the clubhouse and its facilities and history. Who would of thought we would be following the footsteps of Harry Vardon. Jim took us to the first tee and ensured we fitted in with the waiting members who were very accommodating. What a super course with 18 very different holes all a good test of golf. Ensure that you are on your 'A' game as the fairways are tight fringed with heather and gorse and punishing any wayward shots. The bunkers are as good a test as I have seen anywhere, well maintained with plenty of sand. Thankfully I only found two! We played in fine weather with only a light breeze, I wonder what its like when the wind really blows? I cant recommend the club and course highly enough, a great afternoon out.

A joy to play

Played the course mid pm early evening. Millionaires golf. Great weather, quiet course in excellent condition with good greens and well maintained fairways. A good test of golf. Traditional clubhouse which celebrates its history. Hospitable members and staff. Will recommend to my fellow golfers as a must play.

This course is in excellent condition

The Greenock Golf Club Niners Winter League chose to have their Summer Outing at Irvine Golf Club, the course being flat and supplying sit on buggies provided our every need.

Prior arrangements were carried out by Andy Arnott, Assistant Club Secretary in an efficient, friendly manner and nothing was too much trouble.

On our arrival at the course we were met by Alan White a member of the club who had been chosen by the club to meet all 27 of our party. From our arrival Alan could not have been more helpful and nothing was too much trouble. We were given a special room to use which was greatly appreciated.

The catering staff were excellent serving our bacon rolls and coffee/tea before we started.

James Smallwood the Professional gave us an excellent deal on the prizes we purchased from him, whilst ensuring that all markers for nearest the pin and long driving competitions were in place on the course.

The course was in excellent condition ranging from tees, fairways, rough, bunkers and greens and whilst quite testing was enjoyed by all members of our Winter League ranging from low to high handicap players.

The catering staff produced wonderful fair whilst producing meals to fit in with our timetable, the service was very prompt.

The bar staff were very efficient and friendly and prices at the bar were very competitive.

Overall all 27 of us would highly recommend The Irvine Golf Club for an outing and were particularly taken with Alan White who added a personal touch to our day and made us feel very welcome.

Great Ayrshire course

Lot of very interesting holes. greens amazing. hospitality and friendlyness as well. one of those courses where you want to play straight again to ´revenge´ on certain holes where you took too much club of the tee or messed up with the driver. been there twice now and will be back for sure very soon

An Excellent Links Experience - 5 Star All The Way

The Irvine Golf Club at Bogside welcomed us warmly and provided an outstanding golfing experience in exceptional weather - sunny with a cooling sea breeze.

There are no trees or water hazards to challenge the golfer but there are plenty of sand bunkers to concentrate the mind, with heather and gorse never far away. The course was well maintained with tee boxes, fairways and greens all in excellent condition. For maximum enjoyment, it is best to avoid the bunkers - if you can.

A fabulous traditional golfing experience!

From the moment we parked our car in the car park we were looked after in a true traditional golfing manner. After introducing us to the club Professional, a gentleman gave us a tour of the Clubhouse. We were then greeted by a Past Captain who showed us the Club Shop and a little bit about the course and what to expect. When we were ready to tee off he showed us to the first tee and said he hoped to see us back again in the future. All in all we had a wonderful time at Irvine Golf Club, the course was a challenging but fair links and we will certainly be back and will recommend to all out golfing friends. Thank you so much for your hospitality, it was an absolute pleasure to spend a day at a perfect example of a beautifully presented traditional golf club.

True hidden gem

A group of 8 of us visited Irvine during our trip to Scotland and what a course.

We arrived in the car park and were greeted by a past captain who showed us round the clubhouse and explained some of the history of the course, a very nice touch that made our visit that little bit more special.

The course was in great condition, and was very tough in the wind especially without any par 5s.

We were made to feel most welcome throughout our visit and would love to return in the future.
