Prestwick St Nicholas Golf Club

About
Challenging links course with magnificent views to the neighbouring island of Arran. The first twelve holes play along the beach and into the prevailing wind, which can make for a bit of a slog despite the short yardage. The narrow fairways require precise positioning, and the rough is punishing. An old water-filled quarry comes into play on the seventh and eighth holes.

Too many 4 balls
The pace of play was awful. I cut and run after 2.hours 40 on the first 9! A 5 hour round for a 6000 yards par 71 isn’t on. There was a course full of 4 balls all of whom were putting out everything.
I ended up paying £100 for 9 holes.
The pro and the members and staff in the clubhouse were so nice and very welcoming
Friendly Staff, locals were great to us as well.
I really enjoyed my day at the course. Was chatting to locals before and after the round, very friendly and gave tips on the course. The professional was very helpful and the bar manager was also very friendly to us. Amazing course with outstanding views, we had the best weather for October - absolutely stunning course. I will be back in the Spring. This course should be on any visitors bucket list. Thanks so much Prestwick St Nicholas.
Personally my favourite course to play. Every hole is different.
A great links course
A great course in very good condition.
Only minor criticism was more signs to guide you between holes for person playing the course for the first time.
St. Nicholas
A very well manicured layout in top condition, played in exceptional September weather
Prestigious Prestwick St Nicholas
I booked St Nicholas because of its history and prestige which did not disappoint! It n arrival I was welcomed by friendly and passionate staff from n both the pro shop and the restaurant.
I enjoyed a nice pre round meal soaking up the history of the golf course seeing so many famous examples of our game full of legends of our game.
Then on to the course and quite simply a tremendous example of the purist links with views of Arran in the back drop.
The condition of the course was excellent with true speedy greens and firm perfect fairways.
I can absolutely recommend a visit!!
Excellent course
Well worth the money, some interesting holes and great views.
Finally finally played this course
Been on my bucket list for many years. Unfortunately a very windy and wet day which made the front nine very difficult. Had a good back nine so no complaints! Greens in superb condition, true and fast. You need to plot your way around this course leaving yourself in the best position to hit and stay on the green with your second on the shorter par 4's.
Will be back.
Hidden Gem
Prestwick like for 1/3 the cost. Not long but has some tough holes that require your full concentration. #8, The Quarry needs a pinpoint drive with water on the right and a 2 nd shot out over part of the quarry. Despite the short yardage on the cad , the course has a good mix of short and longer holes. Greens in good shape although fairways and rough had some dry ,sparse areas. Definitely recommend.
Great day
Great day, typical links conditions for this time of year, windy and challenging but that why we play right? Greens in great nick!
All in all great day out
Like Arnie, "I'll be back"!
Seriously great golf course. First time playing it. The course is worth more than the £35 I paid per head. Considering the time of year and current weather, the course was in immaculate condition, greens were superb and rolling true. I had Soooooo much fun playing the course. It was hard in places and more accessible in others. Highlight for me was how difficult the second shot over the pond was! Risk and reward course. And playing on my birthday I loved it all. And the +2 round just finished it off for me.
Highly recommened.
