Golf Advisor: Top Courses in Great Britain & Ireland
Played this course for the first time today and was very impressed. The conditions were less than ideal with extreme winds and some rain but the course was excellent. It was in perfect condition for the start of the season although there were a few mats in play for the par-3's which was a little dissappointing given the season has started, but the fairways and greens were in fantastic condition which was great to see. The course was very well played out and looked fantastic. The course was challenging but manageable, probably made tougher by the high winds today. There was nobody in the pro shop, however a couple of members were able to point us on our way and gave us some tips for the course which was very nice, not so much can be said for the members at Ranfurly Castle GC which we unknowingly mistook initially for the old course, where the members were pretty rude! Very happy and look to be playing again on Monday!
Met a lovely girl at the bar who acknowledged my booking and got me scorecards and a ball marker (£3). Pointed us in the direction of the first tee and off we went. First time playing and had already chatted to some friendly members in the car park. Played the the course and loved it. Some beautiful holes esp the par 3’s!! A tough 4 hole finish with some fab quirky holes. Would thoroughly recommend if you’ve not played before. Course was quite spread out with lots of space . Thank you
What a gem
Lovely course. Greens were fantastic even in mid October. A few blind shots but very enjoyable round.
Enjoyed the round on this course, some interesting holes as well, very fast greens and the course is in great condition. The members seemed friendly apart from 1 who said we where holding play up but we had a 4 ball infront of us who where slow therfore its to be expected
Excellent time hitting the ball at the Old Course Ranfurly. Members very friendly, course playing really well and good value for money. Will be back soon
First time playing this course 4 ball, the only fault is the blind shots but having saying that what a layout first 14/15 cracking holes then bang the best golf can get in the last 4 or 5 holes have everything guys it's a must play
9 out of 10 great condition

Woman who meet me on arrival was great also needy tips . Course in great condition. Tough challenging day but loved it. Definitely play again.
A great course in top condition. Good signage and markers so easy to get around.
Friendly locals and staff.
First time playing this course and it won’t be the last. A few blind holes but it has some cracking holes. Holes 4-13 are epic. A must for the money. Would recommend
Played this course on Sunday 20th September in a fourball, first time on the course and i must say it was brilliant. Plenty of blind tee off holes and many challenges for any players. Staff and Members of the club were very polite and sociable. Particularly the lovely young lady who was serving us. I will be back soon! Thanks again!
Intriguing Course in great condition
First time playing Old course at Renfurly and first time reviewing a golf course. On the whole was a really enjoyable experience and definitely worth the money.
I had read a few reviews regarding a few blind greens/summits and fairway crossovers with some reservation but actually found it added to the charm and generally the bell system worked well. Mostly found the blind summits to be forgiving on the other side. However if you struggle off the tee you may find the 15th pretty intimidating.
No two holes were similar and the course makes really good use of the underlying contours, with mounds, gulleys, raised greens, several raised tees down to a lower fairways.
Loved the finishing holes of 15,16,17,18.
Only minor issue was lack of a scorecard as the pro shop was closed at the time we played, hence had to resort to using a phone. However the tees are well labelled with maps of each hole. Members were also friendly and pointed us in the right direction.
Would like to play again with the hindsight of what lies over hill...
Good mornings golf at Old Course Ranfurly Golf Club
After a night and early morning of torrential rain we were a bit worried about the conditional of the course but for our round the rain stayed away and the sunshine arrived! Although the early greens were a bit soggy the course held up well to the heavy rainfall. Unfortunately the 8th hole was on the winter green but that didn't stop us enjoying a good round of golf.
