Good tee time, weak body!
Hi all: This G, C, is my 2nd effort playing a full-length course after a long layoff due to illness. I made it thru 13 holes while riding a cart before I ran out of gas (I'm 86).I like playing here as it is a friendly layout (flat, wide fairways) with some water features and decent landscaping.
Good course. Need more carts!!!
The course is well maintained and fun to play.
They have great twilight prices with cart.
However, they are ALWAYS low on carts. Last week I played and had to walk the first two holes while I waited for them to bring me a cart.
I feel bad for the cart kid. He’s running around trying to get people to drop their carts off and stuff.
Other than that. Good course.
Solid Weekend Pace
Played on a Sunday afternoon and finished in 4:30. Almost unheard of for an LA weekend round. Really only waited on a couple par 3s. A pleasant surprise!
Great local course
If you don’t know how to play stick to the learning center type courses, pace of play was horrible due to some first time golfers. Other than that greens were really fast and firm, they punched them about four weeks ago still a little bumpy but the fairways were all in amazing shape. Good course to test you’re game
Be advised
Trying to book a later tee time towards the end of the day? Well the staff is lazy when it comes to assigning golf carts, charging them to full capacity, and being aware of where the carts can be taken and dropped off from. My friend and I ended up calling the clubhouse over 5 times just to get an answer to let them know that our cart had DIED on hole number 2?!?!?!? That was even the worst of it because by hole 5, there was over 20 children absolutely tearing up the fairways, bunkers, etc for at least 10 minutes riding back and forth while paying no mind and antagonizing fellow golfers (luckily not us). I’m apppalled at my experience here and I would have asked for some sort of reimbursement but the staff had already closed up the clubhouse for the day. I really wish I could rate this course higher but I mean, as beautiful as it is I was expecting better care and attention. Disappointed to say the least.
Punched greens
First off don’t use GolfNow app when you can use lbgolf site. Cost me $17 more to walk. I love the layout of the course but the recently punched greens are in terrible condition. Some bunkers have sand others it’s like hitting off concrete. Most of the tee boxes are not flat and have lots of dead spots. Lots of rough bouncy spots if you are pushing or walking behind a powered cart. Seems like they have a new course superintendent that doesn’t care about making a nice condition course. With the new track man at the driving range now everyone and their brother wants to hit 3 buckets for 2 hours off the matts. No more hitting off of grass. Disappointing how this course used to be well maintained is being half heartedly taken care of.
Greens
The course is good, the pace was fine, but the greens have excessive bumpiness.
Had fun, pleased to have meet some nice folks to golf with.
Always in good shape
Probably my favorite Long Beach course. Enough hazards to be fun without being punishing. Course is always in great shape.
