Cameron House - The Carrick
About
The Carrick at the stunning, five-star Cameron House Hotel is one of the newest additions to the golf scene in Scotland, opened in 2007. It's just down the road from the more famous, albeit private Loch Lomond C.C., and occupies similarly stunning land wrapping around Loch Lomond and the looming Ben Lomond Mountain in the Trossachs National Park.
Complementing the golf course is a brand new clubhouse and condo and resort units, though guests at the original Cameron House Hotel can take a boat across the Loch to the course.
The golf course is named after Canadian architect Doug Carrick, who has built numerous highly rated mountain designs in the Rockies and British Columbia.

Challenging but fun
This is a great course to play on a nice summers day , Great views . Lots of water and bunkers to keep you on your toes . If you can get a deal at the right price then I would highly recommend playing here
Excellent course
Course is beautiful. Good layout with an excellent variety of holes. Staff were very helpful. Overall a great day out.
Un peu déçu sur les deux premiers trous, puis l’entretien du parcours et les nombreux bunkers sur le restant du parcours était un véritable challenge. Les balles sont attirées par ceux-ci.
Les points de vue sur plusieurs trous méritent un arrêt.
Overpriced and overplayed
I’ve been playing this course on holiday for the last 10 years and this has been my most disappointing visit. It’s early July and parts of the courses are waterlogged and largely unplayable. They’ve also increased their rack rate to £120 per round. It’s a real shame about the condition as the course at its best is magnificent with amazing views and a challenging layout. However, at the price and condition it’s absolutely no value for money, particularly as there are a number of really nice, well priced local courses you can play. In addition, the driving range is in terrible condition. A number of the bays are closed off and the netting that protects golfers on the course (particularly those on the 3rd tee) from mishit shots on the range has completely fallen apart and is now actually dangerous. The chipping area is also in terrible condition. I can honestly say that having played here for over 10 years that this is the worst overall condition I’ve ever seen it in which is tragic as it has the potential to be (and should be) one of the nicest courses you’ll ever play.
Pleasure and pain
We loved it . Lots of bunkers and water hazards so it was challenging . Great views . Reasonable condition considering it's been dry for almost 2 weeks . If you can get it at a bargain price in dry conditions you won't regret it
4th time playing
The layout of this course is simply stunning, tough in the rain , get a buggy , needed but very expensive , fair but tough going , I play at a decent level but the guys I was with really struggled with the length
The carrick
Good condition for the time of year at a very fair price.
Great day out....
Beautiful course, great condition especially for this time of year. Enjoyed a round challenging course . Our 4 ball had a great time.
Beautiful course
This is a lovely course. Playing it on a cold, misty afternoon in November was not ideal but it was still special. I have seen the course in summer and will be back next year to play it again.
The staff in the pro shop were very welcoming, explaining the layout and other advice, offering use of the locker room etc.
The spa facilities look top-notch as well.
Stunning course
Played the carrick for the first time, warm welcome when arrived, greens were surprisingly good considering had been recently cored, bunkers were all nicely freshly raked. There was a couple of wetter areas of the course but feel that’s unavoidable in the west of Scotland. Fabulous round of golf defo worth a round there
Held a lot of water on the fairways. This time of year it’s to be expected
Desperado
Shocking day at the Carrick course, 4ball in front took 30mins to play two holes and by the time we got to the 4th hole we had torrential rain, had to abandon ship put it down to a bad bad day 😕
The Carrick
The front 9 of this course is not looked after to the standard I would have expected. The greens were in very poor condition with mossy patches. The 2nd green had very bad scarring from which looked like a diesel spillage. I know this is a resort course but the fairways were covered in divots which had not been replaced by golfers or repaired by staff. The back 9 is what makes it. The scenery is simply stunning and the greens were in a much better condition. We played in excellent weather conditions and this made the views even more spectacular. Would I play it again? Yes but I wouldn’t rush back. This really could be a world class golf course but it lacks the finance required to make it so.
Very poor value for money
This course is not worth £120 a round I value it at less than £75 The practice facilities we dreadful and the nets and mats were a disgrace
Staff were excellent but could not make up for a very poorly maintained course
I am surprised that Cameron House lends its name to what is basically a hotel course
Will never play again and will tell all my friends also
