Troon Links - Darley
About
The first Troon Municipal Darley Golf Course dates from about 1910, though the current one, with its original bogey par of 71 opened June 9, 1951.
Troon Links - Darley plays shorter than Lochgreen, meaning a tight round of golf with heather and gorse clogging the edges of several fairways, and an easy enough start makes the tests between the fifth and 15th holes all the more frustrating.
Shoot straight on Troon Links - Darley, as, in addition to the heather and gorse, there's plenty of whin.

Good course
Excellent underfoot for this time of year, greens were good, however had just been treated before we played so a bit bumpy.
Great facilities and will definately be back
Good course
Nice course. Greens were good. Fairways a bit sparse in places. Bunkers need a bit of work done
Recent changes are definitely for the better
I’ve played Darley numerous times, and I’ve always liked it, but it’s been a few years since my last visit. The routing has been changed, which is a definite improvement, and there’s been a lot of bushes removed, with some rugged, sandy areas added, which is also better than before. Conditions were as I expected for this early in the year, and the course was very playable.
Amazing course.
First time playing the darley course. We will definitely be back. We had a great day and the course was amazing too play on.
Shockingly bad condition - waste of money.
I booked this course as the forecast was cold in the central belt. When we reached the course it was a "balmy" 6C but on entering the pro shop we were told 18 winter greens were in play with no acknowledgement from an unwelcoming host of the distance we may have travelled to play near the warmer coast. The course itself was in a shocking state with winter "greens" difficult to putt on due to mud, divots & dog turds. The fairways had more potholes than most roads in Scotland with craters you normally see on the moon. A truly poor experience on & off the course & a once great course is now a poor shadow of its formal self @South Ayrshire Council this is a disgrace to offer to golfers.
Good test of golf
Played on full course in January, greens were very slow and “hairy” but we were glad that the full course was on with no winter greens and playing from the fairway. The main issue I would highlight is the number of dogs, dog walkers and people walking through the course. Another slight issue was that the hole sequence had been changed so the gps watch was of limited use.
a nice round of golf
very windy day but it was fun to play in it and seeing royal toon by us was nice too my one day to come back and play it again
What a day
Was a horrible wet day and my dad slipped going down a little hill and twisted his ankle. Ended up playing 4 or 5 holes and having to walk in.
3 hours round trip in the pouring rain to play 4 holes.
That aside, darley looks to be a nice course.
Greens in great condition for end of December. And the staff were great. Very welcoming.
Excellent links course on a budget.
Best of the 3 at Troon links in my opinion, tough but fair with a variety of holes.
New Layout
Played this many times. Loved the new layout but some of the fairways were being worked and had been scarified which we only found out about on arrival
Good challenge and good length for players who don’t hit ball far.
3rd time played in recent weeks. More enjoyable with each round as we’re getting to know the course. Definitely recommend it for average, intermediate players.
THE BEST VALUE FOR MONEY LINKS ON THE WEST COURSE
if you love real links where the fairways are burnt an very bouncy and the only green on the course are the teeboxs and the actual greens then get yourself to this smashing course its real links golf for a fraction of the price of all the courses round about this area . It was once the hardest municipal golf course in europe to play to your handicap on and for me is a lot more of a challenge than lochgreen . Had read a few reviews saying fairways were in a bit of a state this is just how it should be in the height of summer the greens were an absolute dream to putt on and the new routing changes really work and balance the course out better i feel so if your able to get a time get yourself down to troon an play the darley course
