Recreation Park 18 Golf Course

Course overall is a bag of mixed feelings.

A couple short par 4s (280 yards) but then some really long par 4s (480 yards) . Theres a Par 5 that was the same yardage as the Par 4. Fairways and tee boxes I would say 6 out of 10.

The not worth were the greens. Patchy, bumpy, or in need of desperate repair. Would definitely play again, but only at twilight prices.

Greens are the worst I’ve seen them in years lots of bare spots and recently sanded and plugged but also very shaggy. Fairways also very long. As well.

Most of greens has dead spots, very slow and bumpy. Need better maintenance.

Decent course, although condition of tees and greens were not great. Would be a great candidate for a re-design some day.

Fairways were typical of a public golf course. Tee boxes were bad. ABSOLUTELY THE WORST GREENS IVE EVER PUTTED ON. A just sanded green would be considered excellent compared to these greens. 75% of the greens were dirt and plug marks not fixed by other golfers. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT PLAY here. American golf does a horrible job of taking care of their golf courses. Balboa and Encino would be considered Belair and Riviera compared to this golf course.

The tee boxes were mostly dirt. The fairways were full of holes. The greens were burnt. Haven’t played there in a few months. It has certainly changed significantly.

Purchased a Hot Deal for round of golf with cart included, paid through Golf Now app. When I checked in at Big Rec the pro shop guy says I owe for the cart, that they don’t honor the Golf Now postings of golf round and cart included?? He said Golf Now was offering things that weren’t legitimate. Please straighten this out!! Also I’ve played this course for 35 years and it’s in the worst shape I’ve every experienced, but it was still better than a day at work!

I paid 69 dollars again because the golf course told me to pay again for the cart for the reservation for 4 people with a hot deal.He told Golfnow the truth. He returned only $15 because it was a hot deal.Beware of the deals lurking in the hot deal.

They made me pay for a cart even though the hot deal said cart included. Gave me some bs reason about how GN is charging the wrong amount. Ended up paying more for the round through GN than I would’ve if I went straight through them. Condition of the greens were terrible. Worse than a dog track. Some greens were slow, others were rock hard with dirt patches and punched holes. It was just a poorly maintained course. Most definitely will never be back unless someone offers me a free round. Then I will reluctantly accept.

When I checked in I was told the price I paid on GolfNow was not right. That the price that included a cart was not enough to cover the cart. They lady starting getting upset at me. Like it was my fault. I've never been treated like that before from a Club House. The pace of play was horrible also. I was on a 6 hour pace at 9 holes. I ended up leaving. The ambassador was hitting shots behind us instead of getting people going. I will never play here again. Don't waste your money if you're looking for a Good time Long Beach Rec 18 is just not it.
