Apple Mountain Golf Resort
About
Nestled in the rolling hills of Gold Country, Apple Mountain Resort has a dramatic landscape that provides plenty of elevation changes, making it a nearly impossible course to walk. Some of the drops from tee to green are unbelievable, offering unrivaled views of the surrounding mountains. Nearly every hole enjoys a stunning backdrop. The incredibly diverse terrain makes the golf course a challenge regardless of whether you are a novice or a pro. Golfers will have to contend with mature trees, water hazards, and numerous strategically placed bunkers in addition to the uneven lies and blind shots that are a result of the undulating landscape. Apple Mountain Resort's golf course is especially nice to play in the summer since its location enjoys a temperature that is at least a few degrees cooler than the Sacramento Valley.

access to ball
Very hot day, and because the coarse is very steep, carts on the coarse were very limiting, for accessing your ball.
Even shots that were in the fairway were hard to get to, on a very hot day. We only finished 9, because, having to walk the steep holes were prohibitive.
had a couple of approach shots hit divot turf, that was not replaced or cleaned up by the maintenance crew.
Disappointed, coming from Carson City
Probably won't play it again, NOT GOOD FOR THE HANDICAP!
Got balls ?
Like golfing in Tahoe without you price
Love the elevated tee and the greens are well kept and the fairways just need to hit it good on the fairways or you will be looking for your ball everything run down hill , great Challenging course for your driver
Great corse
This course is not hard but still challenging. It has a lot of picturesque holes and the wild life and sounds are awesome and coming up from San Diego it was a great value and the staff were all super friendly and accommodating. I’ll be back for sure.
Challenging greens. Beautiful but hot weather. Enough shades.
It was really a warm weather in the upper 90’s to a triple digit temperature at the end but enjoyed the game quite a bit. Beautiful scenery with beautiful flowers and skyline pines and the chirping of the birds and the insects made the game very much enjoyable. Didn’t get the expected score due to challenging locations of the holes, although it was not that hard to put the bald on the greens in regulation most of the time. Bunkers need more sands the greens can use more cleaning.
Still requires a shared cart
Apple Mountain is still requiring players to use a shared cart, not ideal given the current times we are. I definitely would not of booked if I had known this. Second, the starter was 20 minutes early in calling or group to the tee. It makes it difficult to plan a time to arrive and warm-up/putt when you can’t go by your tee time.
The mountain
Apple Mountain is my favorite course in the area of Sacramento, Auburn & Placerville. The course is always in great shape, the greens are tough but they roll true! The staff is always great too, Ryan always remembers me which is more than I can say of any other course staff!!
Very nice experience... might not need driver for more then 3 holes, irons must be working to have a good round. The greens run well but man oh man some of the toughest greens you will see around. Enjoyed the challenge and had a great time. Bring extra balls!!!
Tough and tight
Was a part of a foursome with varying levels of golfer, and the course was very challenging for the average golfer. The course is very target based and doesn’t provide much relief for poor shots. Course should be considered for above average golfers and not the once in a while golfer like two of our group was. The course was in very good condition, with exception to ball marked greens, consistently needed to fix multiple on the greens. People were awesome and will play again
Still my favorite
This course is always in great shape, except for the green on number 11 (which is usually frozen in the winter so I’m assuming that’s what why it’s such an issue every year).. I love the layout of the course, I love the altitude that cuts about 10-12 degrees off the Sacramento summer heat, it’s just a great course. Pace of play is a little slower this year (5 hour rounds) but I think that’s true everywhere Because of Covid and the increase in mid-week golfers. The food at the grill is also very good and prices are not ridiculous for food or alcohol.
Beautiful views, challenging layout, great for the price
Apple Mountain is a course I look forward to playing each summer I travel to the foothills. All but one hole has an elevation change and every green has undulations. My non-golfing wife loves to ride along during my round because it is so beautiful! You couldn't ask for a more challenging, beautiful course for the money anywhere in Northern California. This course would not be enjoyable for the beginning golfer or high handicapper unless you're satisfied with relaxing in the milder climate and beautiful scenery.
Great day at Apple Mountain
I always enjoy playing at Apple Mountain especially during the summer since it’s a bit cooler than the valley. Course was in good shape, the staff is always friendly and accommodating, they have great practice facilities, and the pace of play is usually good. This was first time playing since COVID-19 modifications; very smart to have divider in carts so that two people can ride safely which keeps an ample supply of carts available. Course is tough but fair; if you keep it in the fairway biggest challenge is some holes have dramatic elevation changes. If you don’t keep it in the fairway you will struggle..
Today was a very good day at Apple Mountain as always.
Donnie
I play this course on my way to Tahoe, makes for a great stop on the way. Always enjoy this tough but fair layout.
Great experience
Wonderfully kept golf course in the foothills. Staff treats as you're family! Challenging but fair. Play well at Apple and you can play well anywhere. Great practice facility as well!
Scenic Views
Phenomenal course with the most pristine views. Love this course. Will be back ASAP
Sorry for your experience! If the option to upgrade was not relayed to you then that was our fault. All of our carts can have dividers in them so they are safe for two players and riders may take their own cart for an additional cart fee. Apple Mountain is uniquely un-walkable so we need to utilize our carts to the fullest extent. Those who make tee times are told this and it is on our website. As for teeing off early we are sorry to rush you but generally when we have groups running late we ask others to tee off in their place rather than push all groups back 20 minutes. We hope you give us another chance.
