Apple Mountain Golf Resort
About
Nestled in the rolling hills of Gold Country, Apple Mountain Resort has a dramatic landscape that provides plenty of elevation changes, making it a nearly impossible course to walk. Some of the drops from tee to green are unbelievable, offering unrivaled views of the surrounding mountains. Nearly every hole enjoys a stunning backdrop. The incredibly diverse terrain makes the golf course a challenge regardless of whether you are a novice or a pro. Golfers will have to contend with mature trees, water hazards, and numerous strategically placed bunkers in addition to the uneven lies and blind shots that are a result of the undulating landscape. Apple Mountain Resort's golf course is especially nice to play in the summer since its location enjoys a temperature that is at least a few degrees cooler than the Sacramento Valley.

Great Course
I am a beginner golfer so I found the course difficult but I enjoyed myself and would play it again. Beautiful day and great time was had. I would recommend the Course.
Beautiful scenery
Beautiful mountain course that is very challenging due to the elevation changes. Fast greens combined with the varying slopes of the greens definitely added some strokes to my score. Great variety of elevated greens and some great down hill shots as well. You will enjoy this course.
Totally Gnarly!
In the words of Jeff Spiccoli.
I found this course to be extremely challenging. I'm one who rolls into submission with any uneven lie. This courses serves them up at the frequency McDonalds serves hamburgers.
The pro shop was great. The starter was great and he let us know what we were in for. The restaurant peeps hooked me up with a fantastic breakfast burrito to go and a BLT after my course torture had come to a close.
Beautiful surrounding area with many hills and dales. Just wish my game was half as relaxing as the surroundings! Bring extra balls and hit them straight.
The fairways and greens are in good shape although I saw a disastrous tee box at 11.
I'll need to work on my uneven lies before I return.
Beautiful day
We had a 2:50 tee time. Played it n just under 3 1/2 hours. Beautiful as ever. In the Sierra foothills. Not a sound in the air, except for nature. A tough couse but so very relaxing. Will definitely play it mote often.
Great Day on the Mountain
Great value - used Golfnow. Weather was beautifil on Labor day and crowd was mild - rarely waited and I started at noon. Course in better shape than most for early Sept and always nice to be up in the pines. For those who are new to the course - bring extra golf balls - but once you learn the course you can start to score better on it. A fun course to play.
This course is challenging but fun for higher handicaps
This course is challenging but fun for higher handicaps. Staff from the pro shop to the restaurant seem eager to make this a great experience. Course is well maintained. A few degrees cooler from the valley and trees, not sure if that was good or bad:). Well worth the drive.
Great course, but slow play heaven ...
I've played here several times in the past 3 years, and it's been very consistent in being a very friendly place with a challenging track in excellent shape, but the pace of play is just awful, as the less experienced/less mannered golfers are constantly hunting in vain for lost balls, generally taking their sweet time (especially once they do manage to get on the green) and slowing everyone behind them to their snail's pace, which is EXTREMELY frustrating to have to follow. There was a ranger, but he had absolutely no affect on speeding things up with the slowpokes (so why even have a ranger?)
You will lose many balls.
With narrow fairways and tall grass right off of the fairways, if you have anything less than a great shot, you will lose your ball. Bring many extra balls.
Great Vistas and fast greens
Hope your cart has strong motor and good brakes because this has lots of serious elevation changes. Don"t make the mistake of playing the back tees if you are not a low handicap player. Your lost ball count could be astronomical . It is beautiful , Challenging and fun course. Greens are fast and tough to read. Real big hitters probably won't use driver all that often but you will need to hit the shot as planned as it is unforgiving. Can i say exhilarating without losing my macho card ?? If you play well here it is..
Still fun, still a challenge.
Close to urban living, but a world away in the pines with NO homes anywhere on the course. It's my out of town friends favorite spot to play. Good shape overall given the heat of summer... But be honest with the assessment of your game before you go. if you have trouble keeping the ball on the short grass, you are going to need a dozen balls and aspirin. Plain & simple. Long & wide is gone. Forever. Straight & steady wins here. Tough to judge 2 club down the hillside par 3's... overall it was a challenge for our entire group... We played blues, had a par player, a 30 handicap & 15 handicap, and everyone had a fun day. 4:30 pace on a Friday afternoon.
Beautiful views on every hole!
Love this challenging pinesy course. Definitely need to heed the tip card provided on every golf cart. It'll make your round much more pleasant. Each hole is picture perfect.
Not walkable
This course is stunning and very well-maintained! The staff is very friendly! Clubhouse serves a variety of beers and pub food that was tasty and inexpensive. They do not serve past lunch however. No beverage cart noted on the day we played. Not sure if their tee times are spaced wider apart or if we just didn't have anyone before or after us because it seems we were relatively alone on the course which was very nice! Finished in 4 hours despite working on our 15 year old's swing. The 16th hole states that the blue markers are mark a historical site; we saw the markers but never did figure out what the site was.... trees growing out a mound of rocks. Might have to call and ask.. LOL! All-in-all, a beautiful & challenging course that I would definitely come back and play!
Beautiful course
Enjoyed a great round of golf at one of the prettiest golf courses in the greater Sacramento area in Camino.
Seriously? Gorgeous, challenging, intimidating and more WOW factor than....almost anything!
The title tells it all. Every hole, every shot, every view, every green - WOW! A hidden gem in the middle of (almost) nowhere. This track should be a must play in every serious golfers agenda. I would suggest that the fun factor increases with your skill level because there are very few places you can make mistakes without severe consequences.
We played at a time when the vegetation was in full bloom making it even nicer!
Something to note is the length. At around 6500 yards it is not that long and when it was suggested to me that a 4 handicap should play the track at 6000 yards I was quite surprised. Needless to say, I went against the advice and played the tips and was not at all disappointed. 100% concentration on EVERY shot or you are looking at at least double - yikes!
We just cannot say enough about this track. Superb!
Negatives? Some newer carts with better batteries! We make it but passed at least half a dozen dead carts on the last few holes - but - the staff were on top of it and shuttled replacement carts efficiently without much disruption in play.
Thank you for coming and playing at Apple Mountain! We can't thank you enough for the this wonderful review and are so pleased you had a great time! Thank you for the input about the carts too! We were having a rough day with carts that day! Hope to see you back again soon!
