Chardonnay Golf Club
About
Sitting at the gateway to the renowned Napa Valley wine district, Chardonnay Golf Club meanders through acres of lush Chardonnay and Merlot vineyards dotted with sparkling lakes and wandering creeks. Native flora and fauna cover the golf course, which also provides a home for an abundance of wildlife including hawks, foxes, bobcats, and even the occasional golden eagle. Besides the spectacular setting, the layout provides one of the most challenging rounds in the area. The rolling landscape provides interesting elevation changes and there are plenty of mature trees coming into play. Several holes also feature water hazards and strategically placed bunkers. Chardonnay Golf Club's greens are lightning fast and the course plays long. One of the most memorable holes, both for the scenery and level of difficulty is the par-3 eighth. This hole is framed by stunning views of the Valley and it requires some clever shotmaking skills.

Great time
As always, Chardonnay offered up a great time on a fun course. Hard to complain about anything except the wind and the carts.
Can I blame the for the wind? Probably not. The carts, however, could use some updating.
Excellent conditions, minus the tee boxes
Chardonnay is in really stellar condition. We played double magnums that day. The greens are in excellent shape and the fairways look great. Bring your A+ game, as off target shots often find water hazards and vineyards.
The one area of frustration I have with this course are its tee boxes. I understand that there may need to be a subtle slope to allow for easier drainage. However, these are some of the most uneven tee boxes I have played on. It impacts your ability to hit solid tee shots, when you feel like the ball is so far above or below your feet.
Great Day
Wonderful Day. Course in very good condition.
Greens smooth and the ball rolled well. The course
is challenging but fair. You need to play golf and
not rush it around.
Wait `til You See these Greens
I had a buddy come in to visit me from Canada and he wanted to play golf and visit some wineries one day. So we booked into Chardonnay and had a great experience.
It helped that I played well and almost aced the par 3 8th, but, although I hadn`t played here in many years, I was reminded that CGC has some of the largest green complexes around. Many greens are 40-60 yards deep and oddly shaped where you need to hit to the right part of the green. We even had 2 flop shots from the green surface in our group.
The most extreme green is one on the aformentioned par 3 8th which has a 70 yards long (or wide, depending on how you want to look at it) boomerang green...fun, but not unfair.
The course condition was excellent and the staff was helpful (even were able to charge my i-phone for me). Plenty of room off the tees makes it good for the whole group,
An excellent golf option in wine country,,,
A Course that is as challenging as it is attractive
This is not a course that I would want to play regularly but it certainly is one that I would highly recommend
for occasional play . The course is very attractive . The greens can be daunting -typically large with undulation
and subtle breaks near the cups. I found getting to the greens interesting but fair. Many holes are bordered by
healthy vineyards and if you are lucky, the agro-workers might gift you with a dozen or more balls that they came
across while tending to the vines.
Back 9 made this coarse
Did not start out well as pro shop clerk was also the starter I guess. Said he would let me know when we were up. Never heard from him , found him in the clubhouse. Asked when we were up, he just said now and walked away. Coarse was in great condition. Greens were excellent. It was WINDY!! Took us 5 1/2 hrs. Wait on every hole. No Marshall . Called clubhouse no answer. 3rd call finally got an answer. Stated someone needed to speed up play. Never saw anyone. The back nine were great to play. The coarse is the opposite of management. Never saw a cart person . I think you get my point. Coarse 5 management 0.
greens are still recovering
The greens are still slow after being punched a couple of weeks ago. the tee boxes are good unless you play from the white where the turf is worn. The practice facilities are real good. Range balls are good and offer real turf. The practice green is very good.
As always playing in the center of a chardonnay vineyard is one of the best golf experiences in the bay area. TIP: Play when it is windy. No one plays out there in the wind. The 18th hole should really be a par 4 and not a 5.
A little slow
I like this course. Have played many times (15+). The rain has helped a lot. The greens ate in excellent condition, and the fairways have recovered nicely since the drought.
This Sunday's round was going well until the ranger disappeared. I was playing with another single. There were two four balls and a three ball ahead of us. By the 12th hole, the two four balls had put distance on the three ball (there was an open hole). By the 14th, there were two open holes. The ranger, who was omnipresent on the front nine, was nowhere to be seen. He finally showed up when we were on the 17th tee - a little too late to remedy the situation. What should have been a 4 hour round ended up at 4:45.
great layout, greens in superb shape.
With all the recent rain, this course is in great shape right now. Play up a tee and it plays like a resort course; play the tips and it'll give low handicappers plenty of challenge.
Great course
A perfect day for a great course. It was hot but pace of play was always kept
Mixed Bag
I played this course with my wife on December 31. My rating is 3 1/2 star. This is the second time I played here and again it was very slow. The course layout, condition, and challenge is top notch. It plays long and there are several tight fairways and risk/reward options throughout the golf course. The course winds through the vineyards and multiple elevation changes, which makes it pleasing to the eye and keeps you on your toes. There are unique birds on the grounds and some environmentally protected ares. Most of the greens are undulating and tricky to read. In my opinion, the difficulty of the course is one reason it plays so slow. A couple rangers would be useful to speed up play. You can usually "hire" a couple of retirees who will marshall the course in exchange for some free golf. We finished our round after 13 holes because there were usually 2 groups on every tee we arrived at. It's a shame. This could be a gem of a golf course, particularly with the Golfnow pricing. I'll avoid this course in the future.
Slow
I like this layout but the pace of play is always an issue here

Chardonnay
I haven't played here in many years. The course was in poor shape mainly due to poor water management.
Some fairways were soggy while others were brown.
They obviously have enough water to maintain the course just not spread around enough to have the entire course lush green.
If it hadn't been for the 50% off I wouldn't have played it because it's not worth the full price.
Thank you for taking the time to review the course. I apologize the conditions of the course did not meet your expectations. I want to ensure you are working daily to provide desirable conditions and I apologize you did not experience that. I hope you will give us another try. We do have online specials on Facebook and Twitter as well. Thanks again for taking the time to review our course. We greatly appreciate any feedback.
Playing in Wine country
Over the course was in good condition for this time of the year. Not sure it was worth the money they charged but par for golfing in Napa valley. There were a few stunning views from some of the tee box. Food cart lady was very friendly and courteous. Still had a great time.
In the heart of the wine region
Chardonnay golf course is located right between many wineries.
All the holes have very appropriate names as well.
The course conditions for this time of year is average at best. Especially the grass on the fairways is thin with lots of bold spots.
Greens are good, not to fast.
Overall views from the tee boxes are sometimes stunning (hole 16).
A very enjoyable day we had.
Thank you very much for the feedback. We greatly appreciate any and all feedback. We are so glad you enjoyed your time spent with us and we hope to see you again soon. Be sure to like us on Facebook or follow us on Twitter for special online promotions and offers. Thanks again!
Chardonnay golf palooza
Nestled in the middle of the vineyards. Generous fairways and challenging holes. Course in very good condition considering drought in California. This is a must play.
