Chardonnay Golf Club
About
Sitting at the gateway to the renowned Napa Valley wine district, Chardonnay Golf Club meanders through acres of lush Chardonnay and Merlot vineyards dotted with sparkling lakes and wandering creeks. Native flora and fauna cover the golf course, which also provides a home for an abundance of wildlife including hawks, foxes, bobcats, and even the occasional golden eagle. Besides the spectacular setting, the layout provides one of the most challenging rounds in the area. The rolling landscape provides interesting elevation changes and there are plenty of mature trees coming into play. Several holes also feature water hazards and strategically placed bunkers. Chardonnay Golf Club's greens are lightning fast and the course plays long. One of the most memorable holes, both for the scenery and level of difficulty is the par-3 eighth. This hole is framed by stunning views of the Valley and it requires some clever shotmaking skills.

Overall layout of the course is excellent, greens and fairways are in great condition but the cart path seem neglected & the staff are very unfriendly
Overall layout of the course is excellent, greens and fairways are in great condition but the cart path need s attention and the staff are very unfriendly.
Great Course.
Course is very playable. Wide open. Hard to be in any real trouble off the tee.
Great experience
We had a business foursome and I could've made a better impression on my coworkers

Good course with a few tough holes
This course is really nice and I think it's cool how the vineyards are very much inplay. There are a lot of ravines that you have to hit over and some of the greens are HUGE.
Thank you so much for the feedback! We are so glad you enjoyed our course and your time spent with us. Thanks again for the feedback and we look forward to seeing you again!
One of the b at courses en the area
Very chanleging course, eleveted tees, with great view.
Every time I play, I have a good time.
We are so glad you continue to enjoy your time spent here with us! The feedback you have given is greatly appreciated and we look forward to seeing you again soon. Thanks again!
July 8th
A "fivesome" played in front of us and had absolutely no course etiquette & did not follow course rules. They drove over course ropes, did not rake the traps at EVERY hole, they drove on the greens & held up play because of the number of players in their group. The course is very nice, but what they allow their members to do, makes for an unfriendly course.
We are glad you enjoyed the course and we apologize for the group playing in front of you. We will be sure to have a marshal come around more often to ensure proper etiquette and pace of play. Thank you very much for the feedback, it is greatly appreciated. We hope to see you out at the course soon. Again, thank you for the feedback.
This course has great views
I was able to play 18 holes in just over 4 hours. Great place to play.
Thank you so much for the feedback, it is greatly appreciated. We are very glad you enjoyed your time spent with us and hope to see you again soon. Thank you again!
deflated
I expected more.......but really only got a well designed nobody cares maintaned golf coure....not sure who owns the course but has a city owned muni feel to it.
Dirty carts, no water in the ball washers....weeds in every crack...everywhere.....the plus...tee boxes, fairways and greens were in high level playing shape.
I like the design alot.....they just need to give this gem some real attention.
Course features
Gorgeous course. The par 5 are very difficult and fun.
Beautiful Course
Played this course for the first time while on vacation. The scenary and the views are beautiful. I booked as a single and was scheduled to be paired up with a twosome. When I arrived, the staff told me I could go ahead as a single if I was ready. There was a mini shotgun outing that went off the back nine so the course was pretty empty and I played in about 3 hours, taking my time and hitting a few shots on each hole. The greens had been aerated but the aeration holes were very small and didn't have too much of an effect on putting. The sand traps were a little firm and wet, but playable. The course is pretty wide open off the tee on the par 4's and 5's. Almost of of the par 3's are hit from elevated tee and a few are very tight off the tee and depending on the pin position, you sometimes are forced to hit over trees to attack the pin, a little quirky, but all beautiful holes. Playing from the back tees, I wish that the signature 8th hole was played from an elevated tee like many of the other tees are- it gives the golfer a greater appreciated for the uniqueness of the hole (the photo taken was from the white tees) The majority of the greens are very deep and narrow, so make sure you know what pin number location you are playing to. Overall, it's an interesting course layout with 6 Par 3s, 4s, and 5s and one that I would play again in the future.
Thank you so much for your amazing feedback, it is greatly appreciated. We hope to see you on your next vacation. Thanks again for your feedback.
Chardonnay
I forgot how much I like this course! The course was in great condition. Better than I remember from the last time that I played it...maybe 5 years ago. My only criticism is that many of the pins didn't match the pin sheet on the cart. I was inconsistent with my driver and played several shots to blind pins due to undulations in the fairways and surrounding the greens. I miss-clubbed several times because pins weren't where they were supposed to be. I was putting down tiers in the greens much of the day. All flags are back and white, so you can't judge placement by the red, white, blue flags that other courses use. My rangefinder also had trouble seeing the pins since there is no reflective material on them. All of these are simple fixes that would add to the enjoyment of the players if corrected.
Thank you so much for your feedback, it is greatly appreciated! We will take your recommendations under consideration! We are so glad that you still enjoyed your time out here at our course and we look forward to seeing you again soon. Again thank you for your feedback and rest assured, we will bring your recommendations to attention.
Vineyard course
We loved this beautiful challenging vineyard course. Only fault was that the pace of play was a little slow.
Thank you so much for your feedback! We are so glad you enjoyed your time here and as for the pace of play, we will make sure to have marshals come around more often to ensure pace is kept. Again, thank you so much for the feedback, it is greatly appreciated.
Full Of Fair Play
Course is in good condition. Make sure to play to the front of the green. Putt up hill when possible. Greens were firm and fast so you need high approach shots.
Fairways will run so make sure to use 3 wood when required. Find out you landing spots and lay up on par 5's.
Thank you so much for the feedback, we greatly appreciate it! We are so glad you enjoyed your time with us and we look forward to seeing you again soon!
First Time Challenge
First time playing Chardonnay, and I will definitely say that this will NOT be my last time. I had an incredibly fun day at this course and it started from the moment I stepped foot on the complex grounds. Can honestly say that I have never met a more friendly staff, whether it be the cart attendant that greeted me when I got there and filled me in on where to go and all that stuff, to the pro shop employees, and all the way down to the beverage cart lady Michelle who was so sweet and accommodating. The only complaint I might have is the amount of golf balls you pay for when using the driving range. That bucket I got had MAYBE 30 balls in it total, and with a course that challenging and narrow, I know I would have benefited from having that extra practice on the range.
Golf course was in good condition, not great, but good. There were some random patches on several holes that were weeded out and a bit dead, but luckily, most of that was in the rough. Sand traps weren't great either as they were a little hard and hard to hit solid shots with, but understandably so with it being so windy in that area. Other than that, I loved the course. The par 5's played a little shorter than they looked, as I was able to reach the green in 2 shots on all but one of them.
Last words: Hole 8 is both a golfers dream AND nightmare, balled into one. Distance is tricky due to change in elevation and winds that vary both directionally and velocity wise at the tee boxes and the greens. Throw in a green that has FIVE (yes I said five, I counted them all) different levels to it, which is also long enough for one of those small Napa cessnas to land on, and you've got the potential to lose some golf balls AND your sanity.
All in all, Chardonnay will be receiving my repeat business in the future, no doubt about it. These guys know what they are doing and they do it so well as best as I can tell. Can't wait to come back!!
We are so happy to hear you had a blast with us and will be coming back to see us! Thank you so much for the positive feedback, we very much appreciate it! We look forward to seeing you again soon! Again, thank you for the feedback!
Into the vines
My only comment is that the course needs to make it clear to all golfers how to play golf shots into the adjacent vineyards. Not many golfers read the scorecards for such information. Maybe colored stakes or a reminder by the starter. Pro Shop attendant needs to get that chip off his shoulder. Not very friendly nor professional.
Very Nice Course in Wine Country
Loved the course. Beautiful vistas and keeping the ball in the fairways is a challenage with the vine fields very close. Paths were a little rough and could use a little work on the cracks in the concrete. Well layed out and plays longer than it looks. Greens were very challenging because they were protected by sand traps & they had lots of tiers. Signing between holes was great too.
Not impressed
Course was in pretty good shape except punched greens. Bunkers not great. Course seems a lot harder than the rating. Only snack bar open on 10th hole. On a Saturday???
BRING YOUR BEST PUTTER!!
Slick greens? Yep....if you are use to three putting, you'll feel right at home. This course is a fun one, so don't get your nickers in a twist, if it has you for lunch. Wonderful mountain vistas, seem to ease my pain after
three double bogeys in a row. However, the course showed some love on the back nine, and yield a 37, which made the 42 on the front, totally forgetful. Double Magnum tees please, I'll be back soon. Great deal from Golfnow, made it all worthwhile
First time at Chardonnay
First time to play this course. Was greeted friendly from the start to finish. Playing a new course for the first time is always a challenge but my wife and I fared well. Pace of play was slow at first but towards the end it picked up. We will be playing this course again.
Beautiful course in the vineyards
Loved this course. However, BRING a windbreaker! Brr, windy. Enjoyed our time.
Thank you very much for the review. We greatly appreciate any and all feedback! I want to ensure you we hold our staff to an exemplary level of customer service and I apologize you did not receive that. Again thank you for the review and we hope you will come back and see us!
