Chardonnay Golf Club
About
Sitting at the gateway to the renowned Napa Valley wine district, Chardonnay Golf Club meanders through acres of lush Chardonnay and Merlot vineyards dotted with sparkling lakes and wandering creeks. Native flora and fauna cover the golf course, which also provides a home for an abundance of wildlife including hawks, foxes, bobcats, and even the occasional golden eagle. Besides the spectacular setting, the layout provides one of the most challenging rounds in the area. The rolling landscape provides interesting elevation changes and there are plenty of mature trees coming into play. Several holes also feature water hazards and strategically placed bunkers. Chardonnay Golf Club's greens are lightning fast and the course plays long. One of the most memorable holes, both for the scenery and level of difficulty is the par-3 eighth. This hole is framed by stunning views of the Valley and it requires some clever shotmaking skills.

Slow play
Course is both enjoyable and challenging. However being stuck behind 5 young dudes that couldn't hit straight begged me to quit after 11 holes and 3 1/2 hours.
The course has too many hazards for 20+ handicappers. Annoying that the industry hasn't designed a scheme to mitigate -
My favorite course in the North Bay!
The layout of the course is great, with the first 9 holes being really fun to play.
The greens are ‘adventurous’, with slopes built in and with them being long and narrow - you have to pick your landing spot carefully, unless you want to watch your ball slide off of the green into a bunker, or into no man’s land!
The only issue that is obvious is that the concrete cart paths are in less than good condition - lots of cracks on them.
Still one of my favorite courses!
The layout of the course is great, with many of the holes owning spots in my top 20 holes list!
Pace of play was really good, until we caught up with the group in front of us on hole 13!
There were parts of some of the fairways that were a bit soggy - guessing that the groundskeepers got a bit crazy watering the course, in recent days.
Overall, it was an enjoyable round on a great course.
Punched greens!
I booked online and wasn't told that the greens had been recently punched. I would have considered another course if I had know that. And was not given any discount because of it. Additionally the 3rd hole was under construction. Half the fairway was under repair and had workers using power tools on the course as we played through.
It was an extremely hot day and there were no water stations anywhere on the course or even a cart girl. Lucky for us we came prepared with jugs of water.
For the money, I'd play Eagle Vines instead.
When will there be sand in the trap?
I haven’t seen sand in the bunker for the last 2years… is there a plan for that? Currently that is the only reason why I’m not getting a membership
Return home
I played Chardonnay regularly in the late 90's and early 2000s. Then got busy playing other more local courses. Then moved to about 60 miles away and boy, it was great to "get back home" to Chardonnay." Remembered why I always loved the layout and course. Going to get back soon!
Worst I’ve seen it in years
Kind of sad how bad shape the corse is in. The greens are great. Other than that everything else needs a ton of work. No sand in bunkers, most are mud pits. Can’t even rake them they are so firm. Uneven tee boxes with lots of foot holes. Lots of missing ball washers. Dry patches everywhere. Where is the money going on this course??? Staff is awesome but they need a better maintenance crew.
The greens and fairways are in good shape but the tee boxes and sand traps could use some help. No beverage cart or water on the course so the pro shop should inform everyone that they should stock up before going out.
Nice course needs starter or marshall
No marshall or starter for this money kind of ruins it. People want to play by themselves which is understandable at municipal but I was between 3 twosomes that all wanted to be alone . Totally ruins pace of play. I never play here so it might be better when not a holiday.
Great track but needs a little maintenance
Love escaping the valley heat and playing Chardonnay GC. Course always has great views playing amongst the vineyards. Tee boxes need upkeep. I saw many painted construction lines on the paved cart path, so hopefully they are breaking up and repouring new concrete soon. Only saw one bathroom on the course. Carts are showing their age.
