About
Shorecliffs Golf Course wanders through the coastal canyons and valleys of San Clemente, heading towards the beautiful shoreline. Situated just steps from the ocean, the course enjoys cool ocean breezes and a temperate climate, which makes it a year-round haven for golfers. Its location also provides the golf course with plenty of scenic ocean views. The course features narrow fairways tightly lined with trees and small greens bordered by sand bunkers. The front nine is shorter and requires more accuracy than the longer, wider back nine. Shorecliffs opens with one of the trickiest par-5s in the area. This dogleg left hole features trouble both left and right. Although the layout does offer a fair challenge, players of all skill levels will feel comfortable taking on the golf course.

Fun and challenging course
Played this course with my buddy for about the 5th time this year and still by far one of the toughest course in So Cal.
Had a great time
I had a great time playing here. The coarse was a little roughy and the greens could use some work. But I am not a great golfer and lost about 5 balls playing. So take my review for what it's worth.

Good pace of play but difficult course
Was out here on a Saturday with my girlfriend.
She didn't want to play but wanted to watch. $15 for riders.
It was pretty good for the money.
The course was pretty empty so didn't have to wait or be rushed to play.
Bring extra balls since you will loose few balls in the bushes.

Too bad
The course is in terrible shape, almost like if abandoned. Only the greens are decent but definitely not as good as advertised. I played this course once before, didn't like it but decided to give it another shot: this is going to be my last time there as well as for my playing partner yesterday. Too bad because the staff is friendly and the location is great

Shorecliff
Its an old course , but its near the ocean and the tunnel driving is half the fun. The course is taking a beating with the drought....... Hopefully the rain will come and get the moisture back in the earth to rejuvenate the fairways. The greens were and have always been in really good condition. The price was to tuff to resist for a great fun day of golfing......

Don't waste your time
I live in San Clemente and have played this course several time. Each time I play I swear I will never play it again. Terrible course. Poor conditions, gopher holes, poor fairways, ratty houses, narrow, green slime water....slow play...old dirty golf carts...terrible range and range balls...you name it. It's claim to fame are the greens. They are decent. Not worth it for free.... Don't waste your time or money...Second worse course in Southern Ca..behind Goat Hills in Oceanside...great climate though....

Pairing with a single man on his Birthday
He played very slow and hit all over the Golf Course. I did not enjoy at all. Constantly being push by a 4-somes on 3 carts. It was a complete disaster.

Short but challenging
Shot making and a creative imagination required. Nice greens with a risk reward style layout.

Challenged
This course is difficult. It has creeks and narrow fairways lined with doughs that can bury the ball. However, because if all tat it's my favorite Cousteau. I was talking with an employee in the pro shop and he said out of the four or five local clubs their golf team won the tournament.
I believe because of how hard the course is to score on.Since I want to be a good golfer it's ideal for that reason.It also has a free chipping area which is important to me.

Good value for money.
The play was very slow and took too much time to play the 18 holes. However, the cost to play was good and due to the water shortage the course was dry in many places, which caused poor lies, but this is expected until they change the source of watering. My husband lost 6 balls due to the many leaves on the course and the narrow areas at times. All in all good time and I would recommend play when not so closely scheduled!!

Bring plenty of balls
We got stuck behind a small tournament and it took almost six hours to finish. The fairways are too narrow. Tons of bushes on the sides. Lost about a dozen balls. I'm an 18 handicap so my drives go long but sometimes 10-20 feet off the fairway. Hated that part of the course. Fairways were in good shape and greens were excellent for the money. Watch out for the out of bounds along #8. Some a-hole picked up our balls and threw them off of the fairway. I won't play here again. Too many other options for the money.

Good value
Staff is great. Course is narrow, and commands accuracy. Greens are in excellent shape. Fairways do need further watering, but it is a drought ( dry and some bare spots). Got a great deal with golfnow, and they allowed my wife to ride. Great staff. Place is a pleasure.

Fun Course
I have played here for a long time and you know you have to bring a lot of balls. The fairways are a little rough but the greens are great the ball rolls real nice they have always had great green kudos to the ground crew.

Shorecliffs
Great course, wonderful weather but seems like no one rakes traps or removes ball marks from greens. Basic golf etiquette and treatment of the course needed.

Great course for the price with an ocean view
Course played well fairways in decent shape. Tough skinny fairways bring extra balls. Would def play here again especially on a Hot Deal.

fairways in poor condition
majority of fairway's are in really bad condition a lot of dirt needs more grass in fairways!
Thank you for your feedback. As you know, the entire state has been in a drought for the past 4 years and we have been abiding by water restrictions. We will continue to try to provide the best course conditions possible given the limited quantity of such an important resource.
Don't Go
There was no parking available as the lot was full so I parked under a highway bridge and walked in. The only good thing to mention is that it is cheap. The course is not well maintained nor very pretty, and the fairways are in tough shape. I saw many condemed houses falling off the surrounding cliffs which were depressing, and there were many poorly kept up homes along the fairways. Most of the holes are all the same. I payed for 18 but left after 9. The croud I saw contained mostly new players and poor to average golfers. Not a good place for a serious golfer. I am not sure that I will return.

Fairways are becoming a problem
I generally like playing Shorecliffs. With the exception of the tee boxes that are always a mess, the course is usually in good shape and greens are always good. However, with the heat and I'm guessing water restrictions, the fairways are rock hard and there is very little good grass to hit from. Everything is a tight lie. Traps don't have any loose sand in them and they are also very hard. I think I'll wait until winter or when water restrictions are lifted before I play there again.

Tight Fairways
This is a short course , but the fairways are tight and thin. The greens are in great shape and the ball rolls true. It is an interesting tract and not the greatest course but it is a fun play if you keep the ball in the fairways that are narrow! There are some funky par 3s that will require smart club selection.

Get what you pay for
This course is pretty much what I thought it would be, after reading the reviews on yelp, which were pretty scathing reviews of the dried fairways and outdated clubhouse ...HOWEVER My dad and I played this past weekend and didn't expect too much, and we weren't disappointed. The fairways aren't that green and there are a lot of dirt patches, however the staff is friendly and for what you pay it's worth the day to go out if you can get your round for $18-20, which is offered on some discount golf websites. Overall this course is fun to play, with some interesting holes, and the greens are well-kept. But, bring extra golf balls, on the front nine some of the fairways get pretty narrow and my dad and I ended up losing collectively about six balls.
