Sweetwater Golf & Country Club
About
Sweetwater Country Club is situated amid the beauty of the Wekiva State Park. Sweetwater is one of Orlando's premier golf courses, boasting a challenging championship layout with some of the area's best greens. The classic links layout brings a taste of Scottish golf to central Florida. Mature oaks shade the golf course, lining the fairways and framing the greens. The 6,238-yard layout offers a good amount of length but it's definitely not a grip-it-and-rip-it course thanks to tight fairways that require accurate shot placement. The course is home to one of the longest par 5s in the Southeast, a challenging 625-yard hole that is aptly named the "Loch Ness Monster." The heavily tree-lined hole double doglegs around a large lake. There are some challenging holes but Sweetwater Country Club isn't overly punishing for the high handicapper.

Sweetwater
A oldie but goodie. Great layout that needs some tender loving care. Holes 1 and 18 need to be reconfigured. Bunkers are sloppy and no rakes present.
No golf carts
Drove 45 minutes with foursome only to find our tee time wasn’t worth anything because they had no golf carts available
Private course but poor conditions
The price was okay and the layout was pretty playable and interesting. However, the tee boxes were very poor, bunkers not really playable (no rakes in any bunkers), fairways were thin and inconsistent, greens were decent. Overall, I wouldn't return or recommend this course.
Needs some major TLC
I get it their clubhouse is under construction, but at least put up a temporary pro shop that has water, Gatorade, some sort of prepared food, balls, tees, gloves, etc. The course was extremely tight, lots of trees, houses VERY close, bunkers hard as a rock, and some of the tee boxes were shaped like a turtle shell and sandy. Aside from that, the other tee boxes were good enough to find a decent spot to tee off from, fairways were in good shape, and greens were very receptive and riled somewhat true. I would not go back or recommend playing there at least until their facility has been completed and all of their equipment is pulled into some sort of maintenance shop (currently scattered along the sides of the starting and finishing holes).
Very Disappointed
This was my first time playing this course, and at this point, unless course conditions drastically change, it will be my last time playing it! These course conditions, especially the greens, were totally unacceptable and disappointing! It appears that the course has been neglected for years. The overall layout of the course was acceptable, except for hole number one, it needs to be redesigned and lengthened. However, some of the holes on the back nine had some nice hills and were an unexpected surprise!
Has potential to be a gem
I played a bargain rate. And I will only be back at a bargain, riate.
Greens really really need a lot of work, they are very slow. , they just haven’t been rolled regularly.
I get that it is a tight course, but really, some of the older oaks need to be pruned on the fairways.
Good course. Quirkie starting hole but fun layout. Conditions ok. Greens slower but in decent shape. Fun layout for ball striking. Need to keep it in play. Some narrow holes but fair. Will go back.
Convenient
This course is a close drive and is convenient commute. The fairways are narrow on the par 5s and the par 3s are long (challenging) from Blue Tees.
Holes #1 and #9 was redesigned and #18 are a bit odd. The homes are really close to the green for my comfort.
The greens are being fertilized. The pace of play is great. The club house is under construction.
Enjoyable day in, under, and around the trees.
If you enjoy oak trees this is the course for you. Many large oaks impeding the fairways on great shots. It’s not a knock on the course just a characteristic of it. Greens were nice and rolled well. I found the back 9 to have a lot more character then the front. Clubhouse is under construction so can’t really speak on much else. Pace was great as no one was out. Some tighter lies in the fairways. I would return again but I would recommend having some of the oaks cut back.
