Down Royal Golf Lisburn NI
An inexpensive parkland 18 hole course set within the perimeter of the Down Royal Race Course. Quite a forgiving course that feels more like a links than parkland. Lots of gorse to trap stray shots, although not too much to make the course unsuitable for high handicappers. The only problem I found was that signage was poor and did lead to scurrying around trying to find the bext tee box. In all a nice course to play.
Weather affected play
Opening 9 affected by rain thunder,so was better forgotten back 9 enjoyed weather improved scorecard improved, now has golf shop but closed when I finished, still nice challenging course
Grea value but don’t bother with play and eat deal on here
Think I’ve reviewed before and would be the same , grand course for the money. 3 or us played today for £11+£1 bookings no feel very reasonable. 2 of us booked meal with the golf for £20+£1 , a £9 difference. Still very reasonable ,until we’re ordering and are told to order of the lunch menu , £6 . Or they would take £6 of a full price main? Again we paid £9. There was a walk up offer of 2x courses for £10
So good course, good value, food ok but don’t book on here 1st !!
Sunday golf
As always enjoyable, couple of two balls let me through so my day flowed, deal was good which brings u back,
Great value
Very happy with course conditions for price to play. its a complaint about many courses but why can’t clubs provide a map of holes on card and have simple signs to the next tee ??
Final day of spring
Very nice weather, course in good condition,,freedom of down royal
Golf on paddy bank holiday
Down royal generally clean and tidy, main thing hit fairways and ul do good,1ce in rough (cod do with a trim)then u have problems, but always enjoy down royal
Good all round
Excellent course, good layout, very forgiving off the fairways, pretty flat also which was good. Only small criticism is the lack of signposting for tees, only an issue for first-timers though.
Lovely day but the course was frozen underfoot
good value for money and easy to get a time on a Saturday
Traffic on back 9
Always enjoy down royal, very challenging windy, course was very good, front 9 flowed very nicely back, back 9 a car park and due to time restrictions had to cut short to just a few holes,
Still enjoy down royal
Overall do enjoy down royal, but today caught behind 4 ball at the 10th till 18,could of let me thru on couple of moments but spent more time looking for balls, but not clubs fault just muppets on a course
Down royal GC
Great play and meal deal on GN. Had a driving range to warm up on and a short game area that has been neglected for some time. Fairways were excellent to play of considering the amount of rain that fell over the past few days. Green were in good condition and ran well. Tee boxs were not level even the slightest which made teeing off more difficult than it should be, but that was really the only major complaint. The meal afterwards was great with a pint. Well recommend this to others.
Pre winter golf
Enjoyed my day, most consistent performance to date, conditions of course was very good, pace was slow so failing light effected last 3 holes, but down royal is always lovely course to play
Mick the Miller
Excellent winter course. Needs more directional markers to tee boxes, especially the 1st to the 2nd hole.
