Pace of Play
An absolutely stunning day ruined by some of the worst golf etiquette and pace of play I have ever had the unfortunate experience to witness. Stick behind a 3 ball for 5 of the 13 holes we managed to play in 3 1/4 hrs and they point blank refused to acknowledge we were even there never mind let us play through. Not sure how they managed to get around 18 holes considering the sheer volume of balls they apparently lost. Spoke with the pro shop who were less than interested also. I WILL NOT BE BACK!
Great course for tee shots
Lots of par 4,for me starting off always enjoy challenge par 4/5 and 18 holes stay open other courses in bad weather or weekend cut down to 9 holes
Starting to enjoy this course
This course scared me at first now starting to enjoy
Excellent winter golf venue
Possibly the best drained course we've ever played, greens in excellent condition too for the time of year, made for a thoroughly enjoyable round for the three of us, will definitely be back.
torrential rain - no problem!!
We played this course a week after hurricane Ophelia and days of torrential rain. Most courses in the area were closed due to flooding, but because of the brilliant drainage Down Royal can stay open all year round.
Course is of moderate difficulty but in the breezy conditions can be a real challenge. I have no hesitation in recommending the course, especially in damp conditions
Dave
This place is real nice to play. It is good for beginners and experanced. They just need signs to show the next tee . Try it.
VALUE
Love playing here. Course has improved immensely over the past few years. recommended to any handicap.
Good wee course just 15 mins from Belfast
Very friendly staff and members
Course looked to be having a bit of work done on rough areas / bunkers but not to the detriment of the experience
Not the longest course but challenging enough and in very pleasant surroundings
Not too busy despite it being a Saturday morning although that may have been due to the rain showers!
Worth a visit and would return
Very open course.
Staff very friendly and helpful.
Course and greens in great condition...
Great layout to the course!
I've played this course before and enjoyed it so thought why not again!
Staff couldnt have been any friendlier and helpful.
Course was in great shape, green's where in great nick and quick, layout of the course is set up well to make it a good challenging course.
Would recommend to anybody to at least play it once and see for themsleves but i know i'll play it again and you cantbeat, espeically at weekends.
Down royal
I have played this course on many occasions and have enjoyed it, yesterday though was a different story, apart from being stuck behind a golf society which took 5 hrs for our round, the greens were very bumpy, uneven and inconsistent, I basically used the round to brush up on driving and approach play. Might come back in the summer when greens improve.
Little Gem
Having played both the 18 & 9 hole courses have to say bother courses are challenging the course is well maintained and a credit to the ground staff enjoy playing it
Down Royal Park Golf Course
Always puts a smile on my face playing here! Staff are fantastic and helpful, green staff are always courteous and food is basic but worth the money. Seriously looking at joining as a member. 10/10
Good course
Fairly open and fair with difficulty created by longer rough, water hazards and out of bounds. Played it for many years as it is one of the best drained parkland courses around. Very dry and rarely closed. Always thought the design was great but condition under par. However, this is improving and work is being carried out on several holes which will enhance the layout. Overall, good experience and recommended.
Down royal golf
This course is set up for tight fairways as there doesn't seem to be much of a second cut,so important to stay on the short stuff or you've a hard shot getting outa rough..course cud do with some next tee signs and maybe tighter cut on greens ..value for money tho for an average golfer and the par4s most of them are reachable in 2.the staff were very friendly and helpful and the Guinness was nice after round..good surroundings inside .sky TV. A good day out
