Excellent course

I used to be a member here, over a decade ago. The course remains as good as it always was in the summer months.

It's a must visit for anyone who had not played it. It is in fantastic condition - real credit to the green keepers. Greens deserve a special mention. They are very slick and if you struggle with fast greens you may not be a fan. I found them fair. They still hold well struck shots. Balls were spinning back when hit well.

We finished in the dark unfortunately as stuck behind a slow 4 ball all the way round, as where a few other groups behind us.

Couldn’t fault anything, from the welcome in the pro shop, the great condition of the course, fairways and greens, to the welcome in the clubhouse. Thanks.

Pace of play

Pace of play was horrendous, 26 minutes spent on one hole alone. This needs stamped out.

Folks on the course were quite rude and walked onto the 10th tee when I was putting on 9.

They didn't ask could they walk on just teed it up and walked on.

Good variety of holes in great condition

Quite a hilly and quirky classic Braid course with a good variety of holes. Tough 5th hole was a personal favourite - a good drive tight down the right side suddenly opens the hole up and you can see where you're going.

Greens receptive but not soft and with good pace. Rest of the course was in very good condition with plenty of grass on fairways and fair rough although tees perhaps a little long. Played late on a Tues and the course was very quiet with just a couple of groups of ladies out ahead (it was ladies day) - one group very kindly let me through inside a couple of holes but sadly the other despite having nobody in front of themvchose not to, even when (for every hole on the back 9) they were still teeing off when I reached the same tee. Lovely course and an absolute bargain but a shame when (some) members behave in such a way.

Excellent golf in the sun.

Bangor Goof Club was an absolute pleasure to play in the sun. Conditions were ideal and the course playing perfectly. The greens were suitably quick for this time of year and fairways in super condition. A good mix of easy and difficult holes. Will definitely play again over the Summer.

Great course and lovely greens

Played Bangor as a solo while on holiday. Really enjoyed the course. My only minor suggestion would be a few more sign posts as green to tee is not obvious in several places.

Bang for your buck Bangor

What a gem this course is. Lush fairways, lovely greens, and lots of sand in the bunkers. Great variation of holes. Friendly people in the clubhouse.

I can recommend this course and will definitely be back.
