Great course
This is the first time I played Bentra golf course but it won’t be the last . The course has a great layout it’s challenging but also playable some of the greens are set in challenging positions but that just adds to the fun if I had to say anything wrong with the course is the greens are a bit feathery but it doesn’t take away from the course itself. The price was excellent were other course s are trying to stop people who aren’t members playing their course s by putting up prices Bentra has set a good price for a great days fun well done ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Cheap and barely cheerful
Played today for the first time. Wasn't sure after reading reviews, but most of them are completely justified. Playing of temporary tee boxes even tho proper ones are actually very dry and ready for use. Everything needs cut, from tees to greens absolutely everything needs taken down. Daiseys everywhere makes finding your ball on the fairway challenging. Fist cut full of dried clumps of cut grass and the rough is shin height. Greens patchy, long and slow. Not a bad lay out and some decent size par 4's make it challenging enough. Just needs proper maintenance, not as wet as other courses I've played. Same cost as a hour on the range so can't complain, I went to get real world practice. I would probably return and give it another try in mid summer to see if they have upped their game and improved it.
Very Open Course good for Beginners
There isn't much in the way of features on this course, but it a good, open course. It is 9 holes so perfect for beginners and has a few longer holes on it too.
Not bad
Royal Bentra.. Great course to learn on.. but also great place if you wanna lose balls..!. Rough between fairway used to be cut, but now it's a tighter.
Greens are terrible now, need better maintenance. A bower tank a squirt of water over the summer would help.
But sure, it's cheap and friendly. Still enjoy it.
Okay price wise
The course was dry which surprised me with so much rain .. The greens are not great, and because of the price you will find people playing who have no golf rules sence about slow play .
Bentra
Value for money. Average course. Greens not great condition
Ridiculous
Where to begin. The tee boxes(other than the first),are no better than crude mounds poorly maintained. The bunkers are piles of builders sand, poorly maintained.(no rakes). The fairways are cut by someone who clearly doesn’t care,as their cutting equipment is constantly cutting uneven. The fairways are rough length(when actually cut),with hundreds of daisies per square meter, and piles of dried clumps of grass waiting to hide your ball.
I think the worst aspect of the course is the rough. It is clearly NEVER maintained, and just left to grow wild.If you run of the fairway even a couple of inches, chances are you won’t find your ball.Even if you do miraculously find your ball in the rough, the vegetation is so dense you will do extremely well to hack it out a couple of feet without breaking a wrist. In essence, the rough may as well be out of bounds.I whiteness many players spending a lot of time, head down searching for their ball, both in the ‘rough’and on the fairways, slowing play all round,
Yes the course is cheap, and it needs to be for all the above reasons, but when you factor in losing at least half a dozen balls each round,(many in the middle of the fairway),it is going to be more expensive than the ticket price suggests.
I can think of many better courses to play on,for not much more money.
Avoid at all costs
Worst course I have ever played at, Daisy's all over the fairway, fairway looks like the rough as it's never cut. Very poor conditions and I lost about 5 balls even when hitting into the fairway. Shocking
Not worth it
I know it was only a tenner but I'd of been better off just playing on my local footie pitches
Too much waiting
Arrived on the first tee at 10:20 to be ready to tee off at 10:30. This was not the case as there were 3 groups waiting on the tee to tee off. This meant that we had to wait until 11:05 for us to tee off from a 10:30 booking. Ridiculous! When you book to tee off at a certain time, this should be the time you tee off at and there should not be that many groups allowed to book in around the same time.
I hope the next time I decide to play here that this is not the case as it will put me off from coming back to this course.
Poor standard all round
Woman at reception took 10 minutes to find my booking when i was showing her my email and confirmation numbers. Tried to charge me £30 for a trolley for 2 hours and didnt give me a code to get onto the course. Other golfers leaving the course wouldnt let us on and were very rude when asked how to access the course (the gate needs a code) the course itself is a decent enough course but it could use a cut as the grass on the fairways is quite long and covered in daisys which makes it quite difficult to find your ball on a warm sunny day, which is quite frustrating when you hit a good straight shot down the middle of the fairway then have to spend 15 mins trying to find your ball. Quite a bit of slow play by the group infront who kept stopping to smoke and chat and wouldnt let us pass through, also quite rude from a golfer who was behind us playing one ball running and playing through us while on the middle of the 8th hole. Im all for playing past a group infront if your playing quicker but not while they are on the fairway - all in all not the best day out
Shocking
Greens where long fairways over grown and daisy...stay clear
