Good value but rustic
This course could be really good with a little more investment into the course. It was generally untidy. As it was very windy we didn't play off the white tees but the green tees. However, the green tees (and the red) appeared to be just some mown parts of the fairway in front of the tees recognisable as tees (i.e. the white tees that were built up like tees, flat and closely mown). According to the slope table my course handicap on the green course should have been 2, something I have never, ever, approached on any other course. This was due to the fact that the CR was 68 and the par 73, This is the only course I have ever played with a 5 shot difference between par and CR.
I admit I didn't play well but having two par threes where you have to play your tee shot over a tree is not inviting.
An honest review
For £24 I have I can't really complain, course in good condition, greens where fine. Only down side was the tee boxes where really just markers set down on a fairway. Would defo and will defo play again
Hidden gem
Not a bad course. Greens and fairways in good nick. Some nice holes and spectacular views. Only downside was the ‘tee-boxes’ were on the fairway. Put the sat-nav on to find it. Be careful, just a single road to the course when you come off the main road. Worth a trip and will play there again.
GOOD COURSE
poor buggy set up. Have to be pre booked. Really for ‘senior players or those with disability’
Fantastic hidden course.
I got a super warm and friendly welcome from the owner - such a nice man.
The course itself was excellent, especially considering the problems that courses have faced over the last few months with rainfall. Many remain closed, partially closed or still in winter conditions (mats etc). Fully open here - greens are excellent and running true.
Fairways need cutting, BUT I expected this given machinery could not have got out over the last month or 2. I'm sure it will be in top shape in a few more weeks.
Definitely worth a visit - and it's not expensive for golf
Great value for money
Good course. Well maintained. Good test for any golfer.
Value for money
With the recent downpours the course was in great condition, plugged balls were a rarity and the greens were surprisingly solid. Looking forward to playing this course again in winter, great value for money.
Good long course
Playing off normal tee boxes no mats , starting of with 2 par 5 holes tests you but sets you up for the rest of the course .
Excellent course
Golf
Excellent course for Winter Golf.
Made very welcome by the staff , lovely people.
Good prices in yhe club shop also.
Will deffo be back.
Well done to the groundskeeper ⛳️⛳️⛳️
Winter golf
Booked fairly last minute after being let down by a booking at another course nearby. Very enjoyable round of golf. Quite hilly in parts which meant some amazing views, especially the second hole. Would play here again just for that hole alone. Four holes closed due to winter issues but allowed to play the last or first 4 to make up for it.
Challenging course with some tough greens. Well worth a visit.
Great views from a beautiful track.
Well worth a visit. A lovely mature parkland golf course with beautiful views of the coast and the Mourne mountains. The course was in surprisingly good condition given the heavy rain lately in the Downpatrick area. Really enjoy the course. Gordon and Arnold are very hospitable. I enjoyed a good pint of a very well poured Guinness in the cosy clubhouse afterwards.
Highly recommended.
Brian.
The course is massive and a very good parkland because the soil is not soft. The staff is friendly too.
Very good course
First two par 5 can be intimidating but good course
Lovely views at the beginning
Amazing first 3 holes with views out to sea and a very good course for poor golfers like myself. Very friendly staff and well kept for the value of a round. Will return when I can.
