Falls Village Golf Course

We had been avoiding this course like the plague after a few rounds where the greens and fairway were thrashed and left for dead. Saw they had re done the greens and we were blown away. Course is in great shape and greens are immaculate! Will definitely be adding Falls back to the rotation.

The new greens are very good and fast, and the fairways are pretty nice. Tee boxes were a little long, but they were mowing them. The problem today was delays that could have been managed. I played as a single, as did many people in front of and in back of me. I teed off after a threesome and waited for them starting on the first fairway, and they didn't let me play through until the fourth green. I then immediately caught another single who was waiting on a single in front of him. I could see that he was waiting on a foursome in front of that. Not sure where the first single and foursome went after nine, but after waiting around the clubhouse for ten minutes, I got back behind the single who I caught originally, and a foursome let us both play through, but then we caught another foursome and had to wait for the remaining 7 holes. While I was enjoying my solo round and the single in front of me was a pretty bad golfer, so I decided to remain solo, I still think the course could have done a few things to speed up play.

1. There was no starter. A good starter pairs up singles and slots them in good places, and he let's foursomes know to allow faster golfers to play through if the starter is aware of smaller groups.

2. There was no ranger. A ranger could have helped advised groups to allow faster golfers to play through.

Always enjoyed the layout but conditions were always sketchy. The new greens are a major improvement and if they could ever get the bunkers playable, it would be in our regular rotation.

First time playing this year. I wanted to wait until new greens matured a bit before playing again. I was more than pleasantly surprised. The greens are outstanding. I am a sold 3.o handicap and have played all the good courses in the Raleigh and surrounding areas. These greens are the real deal! Also quite surprised at how nicely the fairways are progressing. Other than a few bare spots in areas that don't bother me (we have been in a drought situation), the staff has done an outstanding job. The areas around the greens also quite good...much different than a year ago. All of the tee boxes in excellent condition also. I've always thought this is one of the best layouts in the area. But not they are upping their game. The bunkers still need work and I noticed they were addressing this. There were several bunkers that were actually quite good-not so in the past. The vistas on the course are second to none and the variety of the holes is quite good also, My overall impression is I will be playing here on a regular basis as it gives me what I need, I cant address the pace of play issue at this point. Also not sure of the driving range yet. I will address that after i use it The practice greens same as the course so that's great to have. The staff was excellent and quite friendly. When the bunker situation is fully addressed this will be one of the best courses in the area! From the back tees this course can be a bear and give you all you want. Oh yes, I would have paid more to play this course. Its every bit as good as any of the University courses in the area (potentially)

New greens were in excellent condition rolled true with good pace. Good was in great condition.

This was my first time playing at Falls Village Golf Course. I thought the course layout was great and was somewhat challenging. A lot of the holes have narrow fairways with up and down terrain. They recently put out their new greens and they are beautiful. There are definitely other areas that need some work, mainly various bunkers. Overall, I thought the course was a good play, especially for the value. I would definitely return and recommend to a friend.

Much improved overall. New greens were great. Bunkers still need attention but it appears they may be trying to work on them. It has always been a great layout. Glad to see the greens were worth waiting for. Will be back

New green , great layout for every day golfer. Fairways are generous. Golf course is well maintained . Bunkers need a makeover. Overall money well spent

My Son and I played after a few months off. Course was a good challenge. With maintenance being done on the greens and fairways, looking forward to playing again and seeing all the hard work paid off.

First time playing since replacement of the greens from Bent to Bermuda.....new greens are spongy and bumpy but better than what the Bent would have been this time of year. Sand traps still need to be played as GUR.

FV is overseeding their fairways this week. Rough was tough where it was.....thin where it wasn't.

I think it will be a fun/good play come Nov/Dec.

The layout is great and I loved the new scorecards with a hybrid yardage.

I was pleasantly surprised at how well FV is coming along. The new greens are fast, and it's nice not to have ball marks everywhere you look. It will take a little time for them to compact. As putts slow near the hole, there are enough bumps from foot traffic to knock them offline, but it's definitely better than it used to be. Fairways and tees were in decent shape as well. The bunkers are still ground under repair. I made the mistake of trying to play a shot from one on #10 because it looked like there was some sand, but it was a very thin layer, and I ended up blading the ball into a creek. One thing I noticed is that there seems to be a lot more employees manning the course, and this was the first time I've seen a beer cart there in years. It's great to see the course getting back to it's early days.

The conditioning of this course is 100% better than it has been in 15 years. The new greens are really good but I was more impressed with how far the fairways have come along , even in the last few months. This used to be a course that I would only use as practice, now, I will definitely play as a normal weekend round. Bunkers are still unplayable but I trust a plan is in place to address these as funding allows. Layout is very good and challenging. Keep up the good work on the course and the people will come.

The course is in best shape it has ever been in. Now if they could widen the fairways...Oh, those narrow fairways, the rough is long enough that you can easily lose your ball. The good news is you can find others.. The greens are the best in the area, very true and smooth. I was dropping 15 to 30 foot putts, Just ask my partner.

New greens are really nice to see and in great shape. Always loved the layout. Some rough edges on hills and clay dirt areas. Biggest problem is no sand in the bunkers. This would help so much in making it a great track to play.

The only reasons I did not give a 5 are the traps which remain unplayable and the lack of more choices for food and beer in the bar. The staff were terrific, the fairways were great and the new greens were beautiful. This course is tough but fair and we had a great time. We will be back.

I know they said greens being worked on, But putting makeshift greens in the middle of the fairway and the fairways being in a horrible condition is no excuse. Plus the guy who helped me you could tell was unhappy with the course and his job. He was not even conversational. Went down the street 1.7 miles after the sixth hole, and pay full price at the Crossing golf club and enjoyed my another round .
