Falls Village Golf Course

Early in the season so fairways are still a bit thin and of course wet due to all the rain we have gotten. I played here last fall and swore I was not coming back due to unfavorable conditions but took a chance today and was pleasantly surprised. Greens are coming back nicely and layout has always been challenging. 23 bucks to play was a bonus. Will go back especially if the price is right!!

First day in the 70s so pace of play was a little slow due to crowd. Greens and fairways looked really good. Rough is, well, rough. Bare spots and dormant grass. Sandtraps totally washed out and garbage. Glad I only hit into one! Hope they can build on good greens and fairways. Love the layout!

Course was in decent shape considering the weather we’ve had. Bunkers are unplayable so just treat like ground under repair.

2pm tee time on a gorgeous friday afternoon. The fairways were in great shape, greens have a lot of damage, but cup placement for the most part kept that as a none issue. The bunkers are pitiful, can't play out of them. Then there is speed of play, I was in a twosome, played the front nine is 1:45, the foursome in front of us stop at the turn. on the 11th hole we caught up to the FIVESOME in front of us. We though of skipping a hole and passing them, but there was another fivesome in front of them.

As most other reviews have stated, Falls Village is a great layout. Sand traps MUST be played as ground under repair. Fairways are overseeded with rye and are good.

Greens (bent) roll better than they look. Lots of hard pan between edge of rough and tree line.

Golf Cart malfunctioned on the first hole!

Course has so much potential........maybe someday the owners will put some money into it.

Our group really enjoyed our round. We didn't shoot great but had a really good time. There was no one in front to wait on and no one showed up behind us. It had rained heavy the night prior so it was Cart Path Only and they had the driving range shut down. We had looked forward to striking a few before our round and had shown up early to do so. Personnel were very friendly, even the maintenance staff. We will definitely be returning to this course. I rated conditions as average but one needs to consider the time of year, it's winter time and was in really great shape given that consideration.

Course was in pretty good shape.Greens rolled quick and true.For.Februrary golf, one could not expect more.

Always enjoy playing the Falls Village track. Finished 18 in 3 and a half hours. Fairways and greens are in solid condition, so no complaints on that front. The club house was in between food shipments, but look forward to getting out there again.

Great layout, close to home plus. I am a former member a few years back.

Fix the dam traps !

When the traps get fixed the rating should be a 4.5

Understanding that the course is underway in improving the condition, my son and I thoroughly enjoyed our round playing there. It is a great layout and somewhat challenging course. The greens are good; the fairways are flushed green with rye grass; and pace of play is great.

Great track. Loved the layout and the course was in great condition. Edges of greens were rough in spots but nothing major. Bunkers were unplayable but not a big deal. Will definitely play again at Falls Village!

First let me say Falls Village lost 4 players today. We had a morning tee time and our 4 cars counted for about 40% of the cars parked, including the staff. We did not see anyone in front or was anyone behind us all day long. Second, I'll say that the tees and fairways and greens were in very good condition, however, the "sand traps" looked like the surface of Mars, with #18 the worst. But that is not why they lost us. On about the 3rd or 4th hole, all of us agreed that the pin placements were a bit mean, mostly placed on the edge of a ridge or a few feet away from the edge of the green, always on a slope. That again is not why they lost us; you take what they give you and play the game. Nor the fact that the "clubhouse" did not have any type of sandwich, burgers or hotdogs, other that bags of chips and crackers; we've played the course before and know they don't have that to offer.

This is the reason the four of will not be playing at Falls Village again: While having a beer after our round and sitting at the bar around 1:45, a staff member (manager ?) came in, and on his way through asked if those were our carts outside, and to take our clubs to our cars so the carts could be turned over, then continued past. We glanced at each other, "What?". Maybe they were closing for the day and wanted to finish things up. Stopping for moment, he said "crowd of players are coming and we need your carts". A good mood was over in 10 seconds, we finished our drinks, went outside and saw 5 carts outside ready to go. One of us asked what was wrong with those and that for the years that he has played, never, ever has anyone asked us to do what he was telling. Sunset today is 5:05, 3 hours away, there were 30 cars in the lot as we left.

I have read that the course in under new management. The course itself is improving, costumer care is not. One person, that is all it took. We think that guy is the one that placed the pins on the greens.

Today was the last time I will play Falls. I have played there maybe 10 times over the last couple of years. I play every week and my buddies and I keep giving it a chance because the course has so much potential. We have overlooked the mud bunkers, the greens in need of tlc and the lack of anything to eat in the clubhouse. We have even given the staff the benefit of the doubt when they have acted less than overjoyed to see us. But, today after completing our round, me and my buds went into the clubhouse to have a beer. We were almost done with the beer, when a staff member asked if those were our carts sitting outside. When we replied yes he stated, yall need to unload those so we can turn the carts around. He did not ask politely and we were expected to stop drinking our beer and go do this. I have played many golf courses but I have never seen that before. When we obliged I noticed there were 6 carts ready to go and nobody in the parking lot to use them. When I asked the staff member he said well its sunny out and people could show up. I doubt that and we certainly will not grace your doors again.

This used to be one of the best courses in Durham. Now it has been neglected and a sure miss in the rotation. so called sand trap had no sand in them.... small ponds of water?!?!??? They do make shovels and pumps to get the water out you know. Nothing like hitting a great approach shot and finding the trap. only to find out it is at the bottom of the water pit. and you loose it. the rough is way to high for a course of this caliber. lost balls in the fairway do to lack of cutting?!?? Need a back brace from the pothole filled fairways and rough in the cart...… Greens need some work to get back in shape. Unfortunately the winters here and nothings growing back for months!!!!
