About
Located just southeast of Phoenix in the town of Florence, Poston Butte Golf Club offers some of the most affordable golf in the area. The course has desert attributes but the best part about its design is that it is more forgiving than some of the overgrown desert courses found in north Scottsdale. The golf course features 49 sand traps strategically placed around the landing zones and greensides and water comes into play on two holes. It is generally a player-friendly layout though with wide fairways and ample room off the tees. The par-3 17th is the signature hole, which is known for its challenging island green. Poston Butte also offers a double-ended, targeted grass range and a short game area.

Slow back
Had a slow group a couple foursomes ahead of us. Ranger didn’t come around until we were finishing the 17th. Once the group was off the 18th green the two foursomes in front of us played quickly.
Everything else was great.
Getting a little crusty
Played back-to-back weekends and noticed the greens were in much worse condition the second time I played. They were very dry with a lot of sand. To the point where you could hear the ball rolling as you putt. Many times, the ball would not track very straight and would wobble on its line. This lead to challenging scoring opportunities. Not in a good way. Fairways were wet in parts and very dry in others, but overall ok for the most part. Course staff is some of the friendliest I’ve encountered and surely make the experience enjoyable.
Nit happy.
The golf staff are untrained and have no idea on any Golf knowledge especially when your cart breaks down in 100 degree weather and they have no idea how to help. Zero management. Lots of seniors live and play there and they could get hurt with no one to help. I won’t be back. Too bad.

Golf course is in top shape, no issues . One (slow) threesome a few holes ahead of us caused several groups to wait on several tees.
