About
Located just southeast of Phoenix in the town of Florence, Poston Butte Golf Club offers some of the most affordable golf in the area. The course has desert attributes but the best part about its design is that it is more forgiving than some of the overgrown desert courses found in north Scottsdale. The golf course features 49 sand traps strategically placed around the landing zones and greensides and water comes into play on two holes. It is generally a player-friendly layout though with wide fairways and ample room off the tees. The par-3 17th is the signature hole, which is known for its challenging island green. Poston Butte also offers a double-ended, targeted grass range and a short game area.

Great Course
Poston Butte is a great course. Fun layout with some great holes. The course in great shape. Practice facilities are great. Overall this a great play, highly recommend.

Greens burned from Frost/Freze
This course is usually always in great shape. Unfortunately, the AZ freeze had an impact on the greens. My play’n partner who is a Greenskeeper said the maintenance folks moved and walked on the greens while still frozen, therefore the dead brown grass and greens look very thirsty. I’ll pass on this course until summer months.
Thank you for your comments. With us not overseeding the greens they will go dormant for a short period of time in the winter. That is why they look "dry and thirsty"! Once we see warmer temperatures, the greens, (and the rough), will start growing again and at that point they will get their color back. We understand that this might not be appealing to your eye, but the playing surface is still very good. Thanks again for your comments.
Great layout and fast greens
Course was our first round since arriving in sunny AZ! Highly recommend for course conditions and layout. Very busy and while was sold an 18 hole tee time at 152 was unable to finish final 2 holes due to pace of play and volume of players on the course.

Very Good!
Played at 1pm in a whim. Grouped with three very nice people and good golfers. Course in very good shape, plenty of fun shots, and friendly staff. There was a tournament happening at the same time so pace was a tad slow, but we got it in no problem. An overall very enjoyable experience. Once I save up enough gas money, I’m going back. 😊👍
Afternoon Tee Time
2:24 Tee time on a Saturday in January. Got 15 holes in. Course great shape. Fairways plush as where Tee Boxes. I wish pace of play was a little better though. We were backed up 2 foursomes on the Par 3 on the front 9. Unless you belong to the community it seems impossible to get an early Tee Time here on golf App. Don’t plan on getting 18 in after 2:30 and that’s why the rates should drop for this course in January. I believe a $55 rate would be reasonable instead of the $77 we payed.

Course layout
Very good variety of hole design. Very friendly staff in the Pro Shop and the starter. Challenging yet fair with the dormant Bermuda grass areas off the fairway.

Nice Troon managed course
Troon managed courses are usually run and maintained well. The staff managed
the frost delay in an efficient and friendly manner.

PB Golf
The Pro Shop was significantly under staffed or unorganized. Waited 5-10 minutes before a staff member arrived. Course Starter was excellent, friendly, provided very good overview on expected pace of play and course layout. Course was in very good condition.

Poston Butte January 2023
The course has generous fairways but many guarded, undulating greens. Each of the par 4s and Par 5s presented its own challenges and kept the round interesting. Each Par 3 presents challenges including elevation, bunkers and even water.The staff was friendly and helpful as usual. The pace of play was brisk. Range balls were also included
It is one of my favorite tracts in the greater Phoenix area.

Didn't know you were limited tob2 drinks. Play was slow but u cannot drink more than 2 drinks. Beverage cart person should be replaced. Golfers southern dunes Wed and had no pro b lem s

Napoleon Ranger
Daughter and myself (+3 & +7 hcp respectively and frequently finish rounds in under 2 hrs and 15 mins) got paired with a pair of +30 hcps. I knew we were in for a long day. Ranger eventually told us (yelling and jabbing his finger in our face). to pick up pace on 14. Don't mind being told to speed up but do it with some professionalism or watch and break up the group. Never come barreling in to yell at your customers. Wouldn't recommend this course to anyone trying to learn the game. Felt bad for the +30's as they felt responsible
