About

Located just southeast of Phoenix in the town of Florence, Poston Butte Golf Club offers some of the most affordable golf in the area. The course has desert attributes but the best part about its design is that it is more forgiving than some of the overgrown desert courses found in north Scottsdale. The golf course features 49 sand traps strategically placed around the landing zones and greensides and water comes into play on two holes. It is generally a player-friendly layout though with wide fairways and ample room off the tees. The par-3 17th is the signature hole, which is known for its challenging island green. Poston Butte also offers a double-ended, targeted grass range and a short game area.

Round took over four hours with three groups on the par 3s. I understand this course may be difficult for some players but that’s no excuse for slow play.

first class Starter

I had a late afternnon tee time and an hour and a half drive following the round back home.... The starter put me out on the back nine first and once I skipped the foursome playing the 10th I was off to the races. Finished in 2 hours. Much appreciated! conditions were great if not challenging... the greens had firmed up in the high winds but the course tee to greens is in fine shape. Played off the back tees and Poston is no push over.

I think this is one of the nicest courses in the southeast Phoenix area. Great practice facility, well groomed and maintained course and great greens. I’ve played it three times so far and never had a bad experience.
