About
Located just southeast of Phoenix in the town of Florence, Poston Butte Golf Club offers some of the most affordable golf in the area. The course has desert attributes but the best part about its design is that it is more forgiving than some of the overgrown desert courses found in north Scottsdale. The golf course features 49 sand traps strategically placed around the landing zones and greensides and water comes into play on two holes. It is generally a player-friendly layout though with wide fairways and ample room off the tees. The par-3 17th is the signature hole, which is known for its challenging island green. Poston Butte also offers a double-ended, targeted grass range and a short game area.

Rough shape
Mosquitoes were unbearable on the front nine. The greens were super slow and bumpy. I really like this course, but had I known the current conditions, I wouldn’t have wasted the time.
Course conditions where out of control fairway grass was long if you hit it into the Second cut hit a provisional sand was rock hard and Greens where so furry you have to hit it twice as hard. NEVER PLAY THIS COURSE DURING THE SUMMER THEY ONLY TAKE CARE OF IT DURING THE WINTER.
Decent condition
The front 9 fairways were being punched while golfing. Tee boxes were in great shape. Greens were atrocious. The cuts were uneven and super slow. I think in a few weeks this course will be back to the amazing course I have heard nothing but great things about. I still enjoyed the play as the fairways on the back were great. Stay out of the rough as it is pretty thick and definitely made you think if you should go for it or lay up.
Great layout
I always enjoy this course, a few patches of dirt in the fairways here and there. Good day at a great golf course!
Used to be a nice track
I have played this course at least 20 times and this was the worst shape I have ever seen it. Fairways are trash, around the greens and the greens themselves are 3 out of 5 at best. Sorry to see as I always enjoyed playing there but current course conditions do not warrant a drive from Chandler to play. Maybe I'll try again in the fall.
Nice course
Great value, This course was in good condition unlike alot of courses I had recently played ,alot of the courses have had exstensive damage due to recent storms ,you can tell this course has had some to but has made every effort to keep it a positive playing experience!
Upscale Course, but Down to Earth
Beautiful facility and fun course to play. Upscale course, but with a relaxed atmosphere. Course is near recovery from aeration. Very playable course that offers forgiving drives, but more challenging approach shots. Very welcoming staff with an impressive range and practice facility.
Rough shape
This time of year can be tough on golf courses and Poston Butte is no exception. Many bare spots in fairways and around greens. This course is so beautiful when the weather is cooler but now the course is suffering. Greens have not healed yet from their last aeration but are getting there. Will be happy when this course is back to its full glory.
Greens were OK, but very slow. Fairways were terrible, lacking grass in huge areas on every hole.
Swinging time
Very nice course. Greens coming back nicely. Hit them strong and they will fall. Worth the drive every time. A+ course
A tad disappointed!
More dead grass areas in the fairways and around the greens than in past years! We were told the Bermuda grass did not come back evenly after the rye was killed off! The greens have been aerated and putted ok! Bunkers and teeing boxes are great!
No grass
No grass in fairways. Very little grass around greens.
The rough is absolutely amazing. It is thick and healthy. There is some temptation to take a lawn chair out to the rough just to watch it grow..The staff is exceptional, food is excellent. The greens are very healthy and as fast as pool tables.
