Glen Abbey Golf Club

About
The 18-hole Glen Abbey Golf Club in Debary, FL is a semi-private golf course that opened in 1974. Designed by Dominic Palombo, Glen Abbey Golf Club measures 6661 yards from the longest tees and has a slope rating of 137 and a 72.9 USGA rating. The course features 3 sets of tees for different skill levels. The greens are bermuda grass and the fairways are winter rye.
The Glen Abbey course winds through gently rolling landscapes of sylvan splendor and a 60-acre body of water known as “No-Name” Lake. There are no parallel fairways and all fairways are tree-lined. Water comes into play on eight holes. There are 80 strategically placed bunkers. Crepe myrtle, elderberry and oleander plantings are an aesthetic addition to existing magnolia, oak and towering pines which frame most fairways.

Looking Better!!!
Course was in good shape. You could tell they’ve been working hard to improve the conditions. Excellent job. Staff is always friendly & enjoyable.
good layout but course has not been maintained. Cart paths, tee blocks and greens in poor condition.
Just a few greens away
We play this course a couple of times a year because the course is interesting and fun to play. I was pleasantly surprised with the conditions of the fairways - very good shape. Most tee boxes were good. But the greens hurt our review. If they get the greens back into shape this will be one fantastic course. And with the most friendly staff and cheap drinks after.
0 order
They have no starter, overbooked the course to oblivion. Had a normal 2 hour front 9, waited on every hole but nothing excessive and it’s expected sometimes with golf. Started the back 9 and since their was a huge jam on the front, the decided to have people go to the back nine which was already busy, took over an hour to get through 2 holes. We went back to the pro shop and she said just play the front nine again. Nice people, but 0 order and no one really seeming in charge. Not worth playing here for the headache. Too bad because it’s a nice little setup of a course.
Not Canadian Glen Abby
We could never afford the one in Canada but we had a great valentines round of golf.
Money Value
I booked the tee time as a Hot Deal, it was worth this amount but I don't think I would have paid full price and been happy. This is the 3rd time that I have played this course when I vacation here from Canada.
The greens are a little rough and uneven but playable.
All the sand traps were in decent shape with lots of sand
Tee Boxes could have been better, bare spots on some.
Very easy to check in and the lady in the pro-shop was very friendly and welcoming.
I did not use the bar / restaurant.
Good for only a practice round
I play here occasionally just to work on shots. Greens today were half dormant. New growth in patches making it impossible to put on a line. Played in the afternoon. It's the only price I'd pay to play here. Hopefully the greens grow in after the cold spell. But don't bring a friend unless they don't mind playing a sub par course.
Greens are the worst in the state
I play here on a weekly basis and was hoping we were getting better. The fairways and tea boxes are a little better, but everything else is absolutely horrible. The greens are the worst in the state of Florida and are barely playable. I will not play here again until the fix the greens. Two couples that were coming in when we did same exactly the same thing. Pay the extra few $$ and play Deltona or DeBary, or add 10 strokes to your game and play here.
Great drive, terrible time.
Lots of weeds on the course (not the medicinal kind). Would be a fun course if it was well kept. Bring your beer, because you wanna forget how you played it after seeing the course conditions. They’re trying the best they can, and some fairways have good grass but overall it’s disappointing. Good luck.
Happy hour
Course, ratings on GolfNow a 3.2.
They said the greens have some grass that are varied in texture. They were OK. Not a problem. You can tell the course has winter seeded fairways, tees and and greens.
Staff very friendly. Could not be better or nicer.
Amenities dated.
Good for a scramble only. This is fun when everyone is drinking together. Bring your beers and your bucks.
First time at this course
Weather: heavy mist and 70 degrees, very light wind. Lots of doglegs and bunkers in strategic positions. Tee boxes needed mowing and leveling. Fairways were OK but a bit lumpy from carts being allowed on the course when it was too wet. Cart paths were non-existent to kidney-jarring. Greens were green, but with multiple varieties of grass growing on them causing the ball to hop to the hole. Needed mowing and rolling. Overall, a reasonable $36 course, but definitely no more than that.
Bang for buck for sure
The course layout was beautiful , filled with dog legs throughout the course . Some tee boxes were pretty rough but this is a very affordable course that gave me a really good experience. I would go back for sure . Greens roll nice and can be tricky reads . Staff was awesome . My son and I have zero regrets coming here for Christmas
