Glen Abbey Golf Club

About
The 18-hole Glen Abbey Golf Club in Debary, FL is a semi-private golf course that opened in 1974. Designed by Dominic Palombo, Glen Abbey Golf Club measures 6661 yards from the longest tees and has a slope rating of 137 and a 72.9 USGA rating. The course features 3 sets of tees for different skill levels. The greens are bermuda grass and the fairways are winter rye.
The Glen Abbey course winds through gently rolling landscapes of sylvan splendor and a 60-acre body of water known as “No-Name” Lake. There are no parallel fairways and all fairways are tree-lined. Water comes into play on eight holes. There are 80 strategically placed bunkers. Crepe myrtle, elderberry and oleander plantings are an aesthetic addition to existing magnolia, oak and towering pines which frame most fairways.

Glen Abbey - 7.24.24
I played my first ever solo round here and it was a blast. (Achieved my first ever par)
The greens were not too bad, some sandy spots around the edge but nothing atrocious.
Fairways were pretty dry but it certainly helped my drives.
The worst part were the tee box’s - concrete sand shelves. It was really hard to keep your footing while trying to bomb drives.
The staff was super friendly and I picked up another single to play with on a few holes, that is until I left my wedge 3 holes behind….
Overall a great course for beginners because the price is justifiable.
Looking Greener
Glen Shabby is greening up… the greens are puttable and you’re never too far from a nice lie in the fairway. Tee boxe are a bit scruffy and bunkers are weed free and raked. Golf cart are looking upgraded since the last time I tried Glen Abby. The 4 star review is based on past conditions not a comparison to other tracks that get 4 stars. Played in 2.5 hours and didn’t pay very much thanks to golf now… hot deal + discount. Will definitely go back.
Better condition
Glen Abby has worked on greens and they are much better.
Super Value for 18 Hole Course
The golf course played well with open fairways and limited water and sand to contend. The weather was perfect on this Saturday with a Super Value for 18 holes. The staff and amenities are very friendly. Belinda at the pro shop was a treat and delightful in conversation. I needed some extra golf balls and she helped me with a purchase. Thank you Glen Abbey for a fun filled day for my and my son.
Time on the course
Glen Abbey has great overall layout on this course. Some areas need a little work, but you would definitely enjoy yourself playing this course.
Good layout
Enjoyable day, pace was excellent. Some tee boxes, fairways, and greens need some work. I took my daughter out there to teach her the game and it was a great environment to do so.
Tee boxes and greens are horrible
Most tee boxes have little to grass and 1/3 of the greens have holes are bare spots. You have to in the middle of the Fairways to have a decent lie. Waste land is everywhere. Easy to get on and play. No tee time needed.
No dress code enforced. No refreshment cart ever.
If you play after 3pm it’s cheap so it’s okay. At full price $35 it’s only barely passable.
Do not expect much when you play here.
Staff is extremely friendly and beer is ice cold in the bar. Only two pluses for this course.
Course conditions
Course was in good shape considering the drought conditions central Florida is having. 90 percent of greens are puttable. Grounds crew working hard to make it better. Nice local course. Good deal for the money. You pay for what you get
Glen Abbey course conditions
Tee boxes need work but they are flat and playable fairways had dry spots grass was limited greens needed more work but dry conditions this year added to the problems you get what you pay for the price to play here is in line with the conditions. I will definitely come back the layout is good and it was a fun place to play by the way I play to a 14 handicap
Practicing Golfer
Best practice course around. Greens are in good condition, their best shape in the last 2 years. Fairways are poor with a lot of wild grass, but mowed its easy to play from. Wide fairways and mowed rough areas makes this a great place to practice without loosing many balls.
Not a championship level course, but for the price I plan every week.
Good day out
Course was in good shape. Nice greens. Friendly staff. Excellent
Don’t expect much
I think the course is great for last minute booking for a good price. You get what you pay for though greens are rough fairways are full of crab grass and things just look over grown. I got out for 26 bucks and I will say I still had a great time.
