Deltona Club
About
The Deltona Club holds the distinction of being ranked as one of the top 20 public golf courses in Florida. The club has roots that date back to the late 1950s. It is a remake of one of the state's earliest planned communities. Bobby Weed redesigned the golf course, improving its aesthetic appeal and giving it more playability. The course sprawls across rolling hills that provide dramatic elevation changes throughout. It is a far cry from the many flat public courses that exist throughout Florida. The natural contours of the terrain helped determine the strategic placement of the numerous bunkers, many of which were added during Weed's renovation. The Deltona Club's parkland layout has an interesting mix of holes with some that even have the feel of a links course.

Course condition
The greens are pretty good, but the rest of the course is a total disgrace. How golfnow gave them anyore than 1 star amazes me. And they charge $60 bucks. Driving range is closed and it looks like the course will soon follow
Difficult review
I saw the reviews and wanted to play some where different.
Small club house. Nice lady at the grill. Staff was friendly.
I loaded up my cart and played as a single. I went to the first tee and looked around and thought it’s a cow pasture course.
As I went about my round I found the fairways and greens to be in good shape. The greens were a tad slow no big bumps on your putt rolls.
I found two traps in my round they were playable but I did not see one bunker rake on the entire course.
The rough was weedy and needed to be cut.
There were not a lot of people playing and I wasn’t in any hurry. So I was able to do a lot of live chipping practice. Thankfully I sorted that out on the course.
I did love the elevation changes the course offered though. Living on the coast it gets boring playing mostly flat layouts.
If you want a decent course at a fair price where pace of play is no concern. Give it a try.
Average course for this area
A lot of courses have improved since the beginning of the year because of rain. The fairways and greens have finally started to fill in their bare spots. The greens have been allowed to grow in making them slow.
Course is really coming back now
I was paired up with three singles. Nobody knew each other, and we had a great time.
nice course. low class players
They've done a really nice job at Deltona. Course is very playable with no glaring problems. Staff is excellent and friendly. My gripe is with the selfish players that hold up the course playing as a 5some. They were told by the staff to break up on the first hole which they did. The front 9 played at a very nice pace. Everything stopped on 11. Why? The 5some joined back up and we waited every hole. There's no need for this. If you ever participate in a 5some, you are part of the problem. Stop being selfish so the rest of us can play at a normal pace.
Overall opinion
Superintendent and ground crew working very hard to get this course back in shape. Lack of rain this spring made it difficult. They are doing a great job and it really shows.Do not hesitate to play this course!
Challenging Course
A good layout with challenges, even from the forward tees. The course needs some TLC: weeds in the bunkers, unevenly mown fairways, bare spots and scraggly rough. They top-dressed the greens with sand for no apparent reason ( they had not been aerated), and did not drag them afterward. If the faults mentioned were corrected, it would be worth the $45 we paid.
Still not worth it.
I played this course about 3 years ago. And remember saying that it had a good layout but needed some work. Today I agree it has a nice layout, but it seems worse than when I remember. Sand traps have no rakes. The Waste bunkers have weeds and grass growing in them. On the several holes, I was 2 feet off the fairway in patches of weeds so thick that I couldn’t find my ball. Pay attention to the signage that show a hole locations. Number two I went for the wrong green.
Tea and grains were OK. Fairways were questionable and sometimes thin.
We only dealt with the person who checked us in, and he was very pleasant
We had a two some and had no issues until hole 11. Then we waited every shot for a 3 some in front of us and a 4 some in front of them.
We paid 43 each totally not worth it.
Poor shape
Only part of course that was descent were the greens and they slow. Fairways sad shape. Liked the layout of course. Course in definitely need of attention.
Dusty
This is a typical deltona, Deland course. A lot of scrub brush over the sand. Greens aren’t bad but everything else is goat path
Rain helped a lot
Played this course again and the rain helped it a lot. It’s a good cheap course to come practice in.
Needs help
I used to play this course pretty frequently until it started going downhill and haven’t played it in a few years, but I was looking at the reviews and it looked like it might be coming back to life. That was a mistake and whoever wrote those reviews must not have ever been playing many courses because this course is in really bad shape except for the greens. Tee boxes were pretty bare, fairways full of weeds and the sand traps were also full of weeds. It was a waste of time and money…I left after 9 holes.
