Valley at Marriott's Desert Springs Resort
About
Desert Springs Resort boasts two championship courses designed by Ted Robinson, the Palms and the Valley. The golf courses are known for their beautiful setting, offering unrivaled views of the Santa Rosa Mountains and the Coachella Valley. The Valley Course is considered the less challenging of the two, but both offer a stunning landscape covered with swaying palms and blue lagoons. The course features player-friendly fairways that beginners will enjoy, but there are also a fair amount of challenges. Like on the Palms Course, there is plenty of water. Between the two golf courses, more than 35 acres of water features come into play in the form of man-made lakes and streams. In addition to the two courses, Desert Springs also offers an 18-hole putting course, which offers all the same challenges as the other courses including bunkers, water hazards, and undulating fairways.

Great Course - Challenging but good for intermediate players
Beautiful day At Jw Marriott Played the valley course. Beautiful day!!
One of the best courses I've played!
This course is like Disneyland for golfers!!! The layout, the MANY water features, the course conditions (except the greens) even the pace of play are among the best I've experienced in the 34 courses I've played in the IE, Palm Springs area in the last 2 years. The fairways, tee boxes and roughs are definitely the best. The greens ran at moderate speed with only a few bumps, BUT they appear to be a little brownish and thin. NO complaints about the performance of the greens though. Just not as pretty as I expect considering how lush green of the rest of the course is. I teed off as a single at about noon on a Monday and finished in just under 4 hours. LOVE this course!
Good deal
Other reviewers were complaining about not having employees to direct this course but I could care less. No marshal meant I could tee off at will. Tees fairways and layout was nice. Greens were a bit dry and bumpy is the only negatives oh and the bunkers didn’t have much sand. So I give the course 4/5 but pace was great. The course is on he Marriott so lotsa off course amenities. I would play again if had to he chance no problem.
Disappointed
I have been playing the Marriott Desert Springs for many years and have never seen it in worse condition. Worse, is the level of service on the golf course. One person checking people in people in so there is a line. No sandwiches on the beverage cart. No starter at the Valley course. Covid seems to have provided the perfect excuse to stop taking care of the golf course and driving range and reduce customer service. I won’t be back soon.
Greens sub par
Nice course - pace of play was really slow due to families with young kids playing - our tee time was 7:45 am and was stuck behind two families with kids where the course was way too challenging for them - greens were very bumpy and dry - not what you would expect for the price they charge for a round.
Barely 4 star
I was in one bunker, which contained dirt where my ball was rather than sand. The greens were overly fast due to the fact there is more sand than grass. The most sparse grass I’ve ever seen on any course in my life. Far too many two tiered greens and numerous unfair pin positions.
Beautiful course, but windy for much of the day
The course was in great shape, but there was a lot of windy, which of course, nothing can be done about that. The play was slower than expected as it was a crowded day and they were sending out mixed golfers. So we were a two-some sandwiched between two 3 threesomes. Loved that they had drink carts on the course as there was nothing else open. A fun round and a beautiful day.
Windy
The course was great except for the traps which need some work
Don’t bother
Times have changed! Play this course every year when in town. This was the worst experience ever.
Tee off on time but immediately was stopped waiting for group ahead. They would not tee off until the group ahead was off the green.(speaking of the “green” it wasn’t..it was rolled dirt. Disgusting conditions for the price of this course.
Anyway followed this pocket of groups for 12 holes before giving up. Turns out the rest of this course and the palms course was virtually empty when we carted back to the lot.
Will Never play there again.
Where’s the marshal?
Group ahead of our threesome were beginners playing too tough of a course on a busy day. Should have been coached to play ready golf, but just dawdled until we finally had “encourage “ them to pick up and move to next hole. Otherwise, course was beautiful and fairly challenging. Fairways are pretty wide, but the water is a ball magnet. $95 for a Friday was reasonable. Drink cart quit about 2:00?
Marriott Golf experience
I found the signage to the golf shop difficult to find. Staff was not overly helpful. The course is beautiful but they are way over booked. We were waiting on every single tee box , fairway shot, approach shot. I quit after 9 as this was going to be a 5 1/2 hour round. I think this is very poor planning
No marshal
Play very slow. No one to keep slow groups moving.. 4 groups waiting on par 3 not acceptable.. Management seemed not to care!
