Valley at Marriott's Desert Springs Resort
About
Desert Springs Resort boasts two championship courses designed by Ted Robinson, the Palms and the Valley. The golf courses are known for their beautiful setting, offering unrivaled views of the Santa Rosa Mountains and the Coachella Valley. The Valley Course is considered the less challenging of the two, but both offer a stunning landscape covered with swaying palms and blue lagoons. The course features player-friendly fairways that beginners will enjoy, but there are also a fair amount of challenges. Like on the Palms Course, there is plenty of water. Between the two golf courses, more than 35 acres of water features come into play in the form of man-made lakes and streams. In addition to the two courses, Desert Springs also offers an 18-hole putting course, which offers all the same challenges as the other courses including bunkers, water hazards, and undulating fairways.

Nice Day
Golfed with family. The course was in excellent condition. Every staff member we talked to were very helpful and friendly. Overall a very nice day - no pace of play issues.
A fair challenge but........
I've played tbe Palm course 6 times when visiting usually in October or November the past 3 years. A round can be under 4 hours or closer to 4.75 hours. The beverage cart is frequently coming by. The undulating fairways were in great condition. There is water on many holes and elevated greens. On this visit the course was recently overseeded meaning cart path only and fuzzy greens . It affected some of my putts. What bothered me more was the compact sand in the bunkers. Paying full fees shouldn't be the case but happens because other courses are closed for overseeding this time of the year. Golfer beware.
Of the 5 games we played, this one had the best conditions
We love playing at the Marriott and weren't disappointed again. The course was in great summer condition and we weren't rushed at all. Would have played both courses if we had time.
Nice resort course
Both courses at the JW Marriott Desert Springs are very nice. They are always in excellent condition and play is reasonably fast. Courses are challenging, with some memorable shots, but not too difficult. Most people like the palm course better, I’m guessing because of the last 4 holes in front of the resort. I like them both equally. The valley course has a string of excellent holes from 4-8 and again from 13-16. 18 on the valley is my favorite hole of the entire 36 hole complex, although it’s getting less so as I have lost about 50 yards over the 20-30 years I’ve been playing here.
Staff are always great and the price is reasonable for the desert.
A beautiful course
The Desert Springs Valley Course is a beautiful resort style course situated in the heart of Palm Desert. Wonderful amenities (e.g. restaurants, pools, spa, sitting areas, etc.) with great service. On par with what you'd expect from a JW Marriott. The course was a fun. Well suited for the all levels. Not too punishing for the beginner and a fun test for the better player.
Good place for a family gathering
The 1st 9 took 2:50 minutes. Lots of families and inexperienced golfers on the course. I quit after 10 holes.
A very good day of golf!
Played the Valley course today. The course is in very good condition. Fairways were fairly wide however green are not large. Greens read true and roll nicely. Definite recommend if you are in the area.
Great Course
Fairways, tee boxes and greens in excellent condition. Staff. Was virtuous and friendly. Wife and I played in 3-hours. Would definitely play here again. Course going into oversee in a couple of weeks.
Excellent Course
I have been playing here for about 25 years. I love both of the courses at the marriott. Both are challenging, and have some memorable holes, but aren’t backbreaking. Most approach shots on the valley are uphill and play longe Ethan the yardage. Service here is excellent, and normally the pace of play is also excellent. Holes 5-8 have lots of water as do holes 14, 16 and 18. Fun place to play.
Challenging resort course
Due to the overseeding time course was in very good conditions, greens were big, fast and with many breaks - quite challenging. Layout of the course is typical resort like, many mini-fairway-valleys on the course as well quite some water hazards that all in all makes round of golf more interesting.
Valley course
Very nice layout.. mountains in the background. Not many tough holes. Lots of long straight par 4s with long par 3s which I likely
October 2019 golf
89 degrees at 1pm Perfect. Overall conditions are great. Lightly sanded greens were fine. No marshall on course created a 4 group backup on the back 9. Booked a Hotdeal price. SUPER Rate. Tks Golf Now.
Early fall, played valley course
Course in great condition with exception of the traps, not much sand, very dry and hard, also deep.
Slow going. Had to wait 3-5 minutes at every tee box.
Is it my turn yet?
From the time we feed off at 7:45 am, we were waiting. It was so slow, the starter announced that they were running “a tee time behind.” Was there a course marshal to be seen during the round? No. A frustrating experience.
The effort that goes into maintaining such a nice course is wasted since the extremely slow experience dominates the psyche.
