HARD WALKING COURSE
Course was a very hard walk, and wouldnt recommend to a high high handicapper. Greens were superb, but fiarways were very wet and boggy
Little Gem
After a couple of wet days I played this course on a week day during the school Easter holidays.
It was great to see some youngsters out on the course while having a course update with an older member in the club house.
Lovely little set up offering a fair amount of variety. A couple of holes need a bit of work and fairways weren’t in great condition.
On the flip side the greens were super quick given the state of weather👏🏼
Greens superb
I have played this course many times and I find it fair and enjoyable. Weather leading up to the round extremely poor. Greens in great nick, fairways obviously struggling. New tee boxes added to the far end of the course which have been left and not finished since the summer.. This has really detracted from this part of the course. All in all the course was surprising good.
Not good.
Well, where do I begin.
First time playing here, it looked an amazing course and I was really looking forward to it, even the drive up to the main car park looking around it looked like a well maintained course. When I started to play -starting up on the hill- got to the bottom and it was absolutely bogging, I need to add there had been quite some rainfall before hand but during the day it was good weather, I know you can’t help that but some of the tees you step too you’d sink. I’ve played on a few courses around the area recently and with some rainfall before and during and none of the courses was as bad as this one. Also, unless you’re a constant player at this club, you would struggle finding the next tee, also the paths are like a flowing river and even the clear ones are uneven or muddy (not properly maintained) so It’s quite hard to navigate around.
To sum it up. I feel really disappointed to how the day went, I won’t return during the winter months nor would I recommend it to anyone but I’m going to give it a go when it’s been a week of nice weather.
Hidden Gem
If you get the chance then go play....!! Be aware ....80% of the time youll need to leave your Driver in the bag ..its a thinking mans course...just how they should be!!
A mixed bag all round
On the first Tee I was invited to join a 3 ball by a great bunch of guys (members), and we had a great round. We had an issue that a ladies comp decided to tee off early and take up my tee time and made the start off play extremely slow, luckily I had enough time free. There were two holes using temp greens, I assume due to the conditions, which was a shame but the rest of the course was in good condition. A good mix of holes with some right fairways in there.
definitely coming back here
having never been here before but knowing the topography of the area I was expecting a hilly course.
yes it has some ups and downs but in general it is easy walking.
the sign when we started out said "maintenance week" and we were told there were 2 temporary greens, but the greens seemed fine and the two temps were on short par 3's (11 and 12) that made little difference.
There is a lot to like here with tree lined fairways and well kept tees and greens given the hot summer we have had.
it is not a long course, there are not many long par 4's and only 1 par 5, but this made the course more playable with most holes reachable and achievable within my par.
the clubhouse facilities were good with adequate parking and a terrace overlooking the 18th green for a post match drink.
As Arnie said "I will be back" especially at £18 a round on golfpass.
Good quality course, very nice greens. Picturesque. However very difficult, most penal course I have played. Also the clubhouse was shut so had no scorecard and could get no drinks, snacks or balls. Members cut in front of us which slowed play right down. Will not return.
Holly and nice scenery
The first tee is unusual in that another teeing off spot is parallel to it. The 1st fairway is difficult to find as you are so high up. The 2nd hole would test your pacemaker!. Nice green though. The 3rd is a long Par 3. Disliked the 5th and holes 10, 11 and 12. Short & water involved in the latter three. Tee shots iare especially important on this course. Lost balls in shrubbery is common. I thought before, it would be the trees. Alot of strategic bunkers will test a player as well. Tough for a 1st timer, lucky with weather.
Lovely course, great value
We teed off at 1pm and had a lovely round. The course was quiet and in good condition. Friendly members at the bar. What more can you ask?
