general course in good condition could do with sand in bunkers
An Enjoyable Round of Golf
The course was in good condition for the time of year and we played the 18 holes without any hold ups. An enjoyable afternoon.
Golf @ St Athan GC
9 hole course but very pleasant and in good condition. Very easy to walk as totally flat. reasonable price for standard
Not bad value for money
Unfortunately temporary greens and winter tees meant it wasn’t really a proper round of golf and I abandoned after the first loop. Always a bit frustrating to book a round and not be informed of temporary greens.
Course looked reasonable for the money, flat and fairly forgiving width on most fairways. Will have another go in better weather!
Not a bad option if you are looking for a reasonably priced 9 hole course with full length,
Great course.
I’ve only been playing golf for a few weeks and this was the first course I’ve played at, it’s great here! Wide fairways and level greens, everything a newbie needs to practice.
Great Value
Not an amazing course, but for the money you really can't ask for more. Cheap and cheerful 9 hole's to play twice. Staff nice, green condition good.
St Athan
Great course. Lots of trees so quite challenging. Nice and flat so easy to get around.
A Nice Course
An interesting course despite being only 9 holes. A couple of long holes and some tight fairways lined with trees both sides. Generally in good condition and very friendly members.
Corse review
Lovely course to play, very forgiving for me anyways, great mixture of holes for all players, enjoyed the first and 8th myself. The manager was very welcoming and friendly and She showed me the lay of the land. Would recommend to anyone will be playing there in a few weeks time again.
A fair price for a 9 hole course
I played here on a hot deal price. Was a little disappointed it wasnt made clearer it was a 9 hole course on Golfnow.
The friendliest staff and nice atmosphere. I did start at the tail end of a seniors competition. However, it did take over 3 hours to play on my own. A three ball would not let me through unfortunately. A long course so poses a challenge there, but 5 of 9 holes are doglegs right-left, so felt very similar in that sense. Also bunkers need way more sand (greenside bunkers were not playable as there was nothing to hit through). Not going to be a course I return to, but an overall good experience.
Easy walk
Nice friendly staff on arrival , all members on the course were friendly and acknowledged us , fairways and tee were dry as to be expected but the greens were in really nice condition and the holes were cut sharp and painted . The only downside of the course was the bunkers lacked a bit of sand . The course is flat and a nice easy walk, pace if play was good .not much in the way of a warm up area , one net and a small putting green, but on our way around we did notice a more substantial area of ground for practicing. Overall a nice , easy , friendly course , we will be visiting again .
Perfectly adequate
Nice course, well kept. Value for money is great. Relatively straight forward course, few dog-legs which will bring with it the need for some distance control.
To the more experienced golfer, nice plod along course, and the frequent myriad of planes/helicopters flying low overhead makes for great secondary entertainment.
To the lesser experienced golfer, it has some forgiving fairways and enables the ability to play a range of different clubs and strokes. Being a nine hole, gives the opportunity to learn from front 9 and apply to back.
All in all, nothing wrong with this course - perfectly adequate.
Good tricky course
Not the longest course but good to fine tune your game with some tricky holes
Lots of trees and quite tight in places
I have played St. Athan quite often and have always enjoyed it and usually the catering is good but on this occasion it was very poor, my favourite cider was no longer available and we could not get a sandwich after our round...the kitchen was closed. But all in all we had a good day and I will play the course again but take my own sandwich.
2 ball play
My fellow golf friend and I played this course for the first time, everything about this course, the facilities the staff was top notch and we both felt welcome from the start. We took in the bar menu and also found the food and hospitality of the staff top notch. We are both considering becoming members which will be making contact soon to discuss.
A very happy duo.
Regards
Ian
Needs TLC
Greens were thick with sand. Appallingly so. Drainage should not be so bad on a links course that you need to turn the greens into bunkers. First cut off rough needs to be trimmed back. Lost 4 or 5 balls that just skipped into rough and should have been easily found.
