Bargain but patchy greens
Played on a monday. No staff present. No bar or food available. Coffee machine in lounge. Had prepaid for a booked Tee time. No idea what happens if you just turn up. As for the course it was being tended by a few green staff but the greens themselves were very patchy and the fairways needed a cut. However the rough had been pared back. Played off mats to proper greens. Note on board saying preferred lies. Overall good value for a course that is fairly simple but tree lined . The members I did find were all very friendly and approachable. Just don't pick Monday if you want a drink post round.
Flat 9 hole
A great 9 hole course that's got character and is a good test of your abilities, disappointed that we couldn't grab a bit to eat after our round, but the course was well worth the visit, with friendly atmosphere
Decent course but AWFUL member behaviour
Enjoy the course, but was screamed at when I arrived for daring to (quietly) talk to someone in the car park. I know there is an etiquette when out on the course, but when in the car park 40m from the tee (which is out of eyeline)
does not warrant a massively disproportionate response from a busybody member.
Especially one who was sat chatting away outside the clubhouse when we were on the 6th tee (which is about 20m away)
Awful behaviour that has made me reconsider returning
Golfgoer
Fastest 18 holes ever! Course is in good nick…greens were true and well kept, bunkers full of sand. All in all…very good
Playing through
First time on the course, as I'm only in the area for a few weeks. Nice course, well maintained. Some nice dog legs with lots of trees. Really enjoyed it, will play again.
St Athan
Really nicely kept course. Friendly welcome from the staff. Excellent value for money. Some nice little touches that show that the staff really care about the club. Quite a challenging little course. Greens were in top quality condition.
9 holes x2
Very good conditions. Challenging course with narrow fairways and lots of trees. You need to be able to draw the ball to be successful here. Friendly staff and nice members. Have a try.
A great, well kept course!
Played during the beating rain and despite being a flat course, it handled the weather brilliantly.
Credit is due to the Green keepers, the greens we’re running true and the course had been well maintained!
Do not hesitate about booking a round here, the price is fantastic and the course is even better!
Great value for money
Great 9 hole course few of the greens need looking at due to players sadly not sorting there balls marks out maybe look at the next tee signs as well but other then that great course I will go back
Great 9 hole course
Great little course they could do with better signs to guide you to the next tee
Great course
A challenging course but, still very forgiving for the beginner. First time playing at St Athans, will definitely book again. Great value for the money. Nicely laid out course which seamlessly takes you from green to tee.
Better than expected
For the price, spot on. Couldn’t of asked for more
Great value. But only 9 holes
Course was great and really good value for money.
However, you only get the option to book 18 holes even thought it’s a 9 hole course. When i finished the 9 there was a tournament that had started after me so I wasn’t able to go on the road 1st/10th tee. I didn’t mind that much as it was great value for money for 9 holes but I really wanted to play 18 holes so was disappointed my round had finished early
Good course
Second time playing this course and really enjoy playing it, it's flat but you must be able to hit a good drive to which certain points on the fairways give you a better chance into the greens.
Only disappointing thing for me was I came off the course at six thirty pm, to discover the bar closes at six pm.
I do like my 19th hole pint afterwards, also they need more rubbish bins around the course for empty drink bottles and other waste but a warm and good atmosphere to enjoy at stAthan
Very friendly welcome
A lovely flat nine hole course in excellent condition considering the heatwave at the moment. Haven’t played for long time so ideal course to get your game back on track. Tree lined narrow fairways with plenty of second cut . Some greens very well protected with bunkers.
Made to feel very welcome by members. Social distancing well layed out in club house.
Enjoyable course
Very flat course with most holes well protected by bunkers.
Although this is a nine hole course it is pretty long and challenging.
Will definitely play again
