Moose Ridge Golf Course
About
Moose Ridge Golf Club sprawls across rolling hills blanketed with mature trees and accented with colorful wildflowers. There are more than 90 feet of elevation changes throughout the course, but there are more challenges than the hilly terrain. Well defined bunkers lurk along the greens and acres of wetlands come into play. It's easy to get distracted on this visually stunning golf course, but it's a test that requires all of your attention. The first hole is challenging but gentler than the next three holes, which is one of the toughest sequences in the area. The second and thrid are long uphill par 4s and the fourth is a narrow par 5 with a marsh-protected green. Moose Ridge Golf Club's back nine opens more gently but the respite doesn't last for long. The 15th is one of the most challenging holes, starting with a tee shot over water and followed by an approach to a narrow green.

Very pretty course
Very nice views on this course. Every hole was maintained very well. The greens were consistent and the play went smooth. We waited some but not for too long. There were some backups on the par threes but the rest of the day went well. The course is very tight and you need to bring you're "a" game as ball placement is critical here. Lots of water, sand, and forest to deal with. The course reminded me of some of the better courses up north.
Great course in great shape!
- Played early on a chilly Saturday. Course was in great shape, pace of play was fast, and the weather warmed up. All in all a perfect day on the course!
Great course very scenic
Loved this course I have played a ton of courses all over the metro detroit area and this is one is way up there on my list. Very scenic and course was very well kept probably due to the fact that a lot of holes are cart path only.
So much fun - great course!
The course is in great shape and the greens are true. It was the first time I have played it in 4 years or so and I forgot how much fun it was. I will be going back soon.
My favorite course in SE michigan ..A great challenge!!!
High handicappers may be frustrated here, but for the money and value, this course can't be beat in SE Michigan. 18 different holes gives you the feel of northern Michigan. Love this place. BTW I'm a 6 handicap .
beautiful scenery
green needed repairs and tee boxes were not in good condition, but love this course. like being up north in Michigan
This course is a fantastic diamond in the roughy for southern MI
4 sets of Tee boxes all level. Great views, excellent course layout, no trickery on set-ups. Overall beautiful day of golf. A must play.
great course long and diffcult
great course, long and difficult, I wasn't real happy with there putting greens some holes were damaged and had a lot of holes in them
Fabulous golf experience
Great day of golf. Challenging with many elevations and exciting views. Best kept secret! Had dinner in the dining room and that was a very pleasant experience exceptional menu was a surprise to us. We will be back again for sure. Highly recommended. One of our favorite courses to play.
The Hunter's from Hilton Head,SC
challenging and beautiful
Really nice club house with good food. Beautiful course. It was challenging with lots of hills and hazards. Greens were very challenging. Loved it
The course has trouble every where. It boarders to be unfair on certain holes.
This course is not for the average player. You should be a single didget to get pleasure out of this lay-out. I am a 10 handy cap and shot seven over may average. This was not the case on all the holes. Some of the holes were just to penalizing.
Nice course, but challenging.
This course is laid out nicely, but is definitely challenging. Fairways are spectacular, but greens and pin placements are a bit rough. Many holes are cart path only, which slows down play when there are golfers stacked up. Worth giving a go.
Pure Awesome
Man this course is fantastic. I'm currently sampling most of the top-rated Golfnow courses in the metro Detroit area (see my other reviews). Out of 10 courses played to date, this one is the best, hands-down. Admittedly, there are many more to assess, including Coyote, Coyote Preserve, The Jackal, Boulder Pointe, etc., but I'm certain this will remain in the upper echelon.
As you pull into the parking lots the setting is just like you've just been magically transported to the Sierra Nevada mountain range. The Clubhouse strenghens that sensation with impressive taxidermy including a full-mount rearing Brown Bear from Alaska with an accompanying story of how it was taken at 9 feet with a .375 H&H after charging the hunters from 18 yards.
The elevation changes and undulating fairways keep every single hole visually stunning and technically challenging.
The greens are fast and complex and most slope back to front. Hole 18, however is sloped left to right all the way along the fairway and on the green, so keeping it left is key.
The drive from green to tee-box between many holes will take you wandering quite a distance through the dense forest, where wildlife is a common encounter.
Hats off to the management at this venue, you now have a repeat customer, please keep it up.
Nice Course
We played on a rainy day, so the course was wet, but in good shape. The only negative we can say is that people did not repair ball marks on the green. I must have fixed at least 4 ball marks on every hole.
Top 5 in south east michigan
First time playing the moose ridge? ...bring sum balls...both tipes!
Every time I play this course it's a straight beating, both mentally and physically, tough, tough, tough
Hole n.2 is THE hardest hole I can think of.
No.8 is one of my favorites, the big crown bunker and hidden green. Last hole the front 9 is a beautiful par 3.
The back 9 starts off with one of the best looking holes I can think of. The par 5 n.15 feels like a mile long and the last 4 are amazing.
Overall a great experience every time.
Most definitely my top 5
elevation changes
Coarse was in great shape. You have to love all the elevation changes. This coarse is on a beautiful piece of land. Moose Ridge is very challenging tee to green. The down side to coarse walking from cart path to ball, plenty of holes you could not drive to ball. With my game it might of been easier to walk coarse. Still a great day of golf.
Cream of the crop in the western suburbs of Detroit.
Moose Ridge is by far the nicest public course I have played in the Detroit area. It's gorgeous and quite difficult. The greens are super fast and the course overall is in excellent condition. It is no place for a novice as many of the holes require both length and precision. With its terrain, it reminds me of some of the courses in Northern Michigan, in particular the Boyne courses.
Can't beat the price
Couldn't be any easier and cheaper.
Walked right to the 1st tee and finished in 4.5hrs.
Good pace - challenging holes, you have to bring your A game off the tee. Greens and T boxes were in great condition.
Fun course to play
Challenging course to play with undulating topography from tee to green. Carefully thought out, strategic, accurate shots are required because of bunkers and woodlands on almost every hole. Course has the same feel as Northern Michigan golf courses.
Was nice but think it could be better!
Overall was a decent course but I think for the money it wasnt very well manicured. Greens were mis-cut and it looked like it needed water but we've had plenty of rain? I am comparing to a course I played the day before in Northville which was phenominal. Best greens I have experienced in a long time and comparable in price.
