Slope 130
Rating 72.6

Moose Ridge Golf Club sprawls across rolling hills blanketed with mature trees and accented with colorful wildflowers. There are more than 90 feet of elevation changes throughout the course, but there are more challenges than the hilly terrain. Well defined bunkers lurk along the greens and acres of wetlands come into play. It's easy to get distracted on this visually stunning golf course, but it's a test that requires all of your attention. The first hole is challenging but gentler than the next three holes, which is one of the toughest sequences in the area. The second and thrid are long uphill par 4s and the fourth is a narrow par 5 with a marsh-protected green. Moose Ridge Golf Club's back nine opens more gently but the respite doesn't last for long. The 15th is one of the most challenging holes, starting with a tee shot over water and followed by an approach to a narrow green.

nice course -- nicer staff

Always enjoy playing this fine, challenging course. In particular, during this round, the staff went above and beyond to make us welcome and take care of a unique situation.

Challenging Course

The only reason I don't play this course more often is that they have too many holes completely roped off. (cart path only)
No reason for it. all it does is slow play down..

Nicest golf course in Michigan

Best golf course I've ever golfed in Michigan. My list of Michigan courses is deep which include Northville Hills, Pheasant Run, Coyote GC and Preserve, Devils Ridge, Dunham hills, Dream/Nitemare and a few Boyne courses as well. Challenging golf course and in excellent shape.

Why the Ropes??

I have played this course many times, and every time, I wonder why I keep coming back. I really like the layout and course conditions, but 8 out of the 10 Par 4's are roped off, and it greatly slows down the pace of play. I feel like I am walking all day. No other course does this, and I cannot understand why they do. It causes me to only play here once or twice a year instead of much more....LOSE THE ROPES!!

A real treasure!

Beautiful course and clubhouse/nice dinning, has the aura of an actual moose lodge or something. Nice practice green, plenty of parking and a very nice staff. The only slightly down side is that the pro shop is small, but it does have the essentials! I highly recommend this course for fun, leagues and outings!

Up north course close to the northern suburbs.

The course is in excellent shape. The greens are fast and well manicured. This course reminds me of golf courses in Northern Lower Michigan like Garland and Treetops. There are lots of changes in elevation (though not as extreme as Treetops). There are plenty of rangers with great advice. The rollings hills, manicured fairways and strategically placed hazards require you to bring your A game. The relatively short drive to South Lyon and remote location of the course gives the feeling of really getting away.

Too much walking

It is a pretty course and the staff was exceptionally nice except for the waitress. CUTE beer girl on a cart :) Thing I didn't like was every hole was long and very hilly and you can't drive your cart on most of the fairways so its a lot of walking up hills. I get short of breath easily so this made the round no fun. The round took over 5 hours too but I think mainly because people are walking a lot from their cart to their ball and that shows down play. I honetly dont know why its so pricey. The course is pretty big honestly not any prettier than a lot of the courses on golf now.

Up North golfing so close to home

Moose Ridge offers the Up North golfing experience. The rolling terrain, expansive fairways and undulating greens remind me of many beautiful courses in northern Michigan. The course is long, and spread out. It is challenging for all levels of golfers. The first couple holes on both the front and back nines are cart path only so be prepared to get your exercise.

Up north feeling

Got the red hot deal so thee price was right. They do push you along if your going go be over 2 hours and ten minutes per 9 holes. Can be challenging to stay on pace when most of the holes are cart path only.

Must be patient

One of my favorite courses in the metro detroit area. Greens are very tough, tough pin locations and a mixture of narrow and wide fairways. My only complaint is the 5+ hour round, every group was a 4-some and did not see one ranger on the course keeping the pace of play steady.

Not for the weak hearted...very challenging!

Great golf club, with excellent menu following your round. Many very scenic holes with varying elevations that can have a optical illusional effect on your choice of clubs. The only negative that I would make is that about three greens on the course are pitched at an impossible angle, making it impossible to keep your approach shot on the green. This is true even on the practice putting green...so keep this in mind. Above all, DO NOT BE ABOVE THE HOLE!
