Moose Ridge Golf Course

About
Moose Ridge Golf Club sprawls across rolling hills blanketed with mature trees and accented with colorful wildflowers. There are more than 90 feet of elevation changes throughout the course, but there are more challenges than the hilly terrain. Well defined bunkers lurk along the greens and acres of wetlands come into play. It's easy to get distracted on this visually stunning golf course, but it's a test that requires all of your attention. The first hole is challenging but gentler than the next three holes, which is one of the toughest sequences in the area. The second and thrid are long uphill par 4s and the fourth is a narrow par 5 with a marsh-protected green. Moose Ridge Golf Club's back nine opens more gently but the respite doesn't last for long. The 15th is one of the most challenging holes, starting with a tee shot over water and followed by an approach to a narrow green.

Great Course
Only reason 3 stars for the facilities is because the second time we played there the power was out and there was no running water, which in turn meant they didn't have Ice or refrigeration. So our beer was warm. The bathrooms smelled like someone had dumped a 5 gallon bucket of urine on the floor. Other than that, they have an awesome clubhouse/grill (Log Cabin with a giant stuffed grizzly bear to greet you). The course is awesome and in great shape, greens were fast but true. This is by far my favorite course in the west metro area. Well worth every penny, as long as the water is on.
Great course if you have 7 hours to play 18
It took about 3 hours to get through the first 9. The front 9 was slow but the back 9 got worse. There were 3 different groups backed up at the tee box at 11 and 12. We saw a staff (not a ranger) and asked him if he can do something about the pace. He said he can try but he is only the kart boy and the ranger had gone home. On the 13th tee box now there are 4 groups waiting there. I called the club house and asked if they can do something about it and the staff told me that he will send a ranger out there right away (I thought the ranger had gone home?)
We finally gave up and left after 20 mins at the 13th tee box. As we were pulling our bags off the kart the gentleman at the club house came out and asked about our round. We told him our frustrations he said to come in and he'll give us a rain check for 9.
Finally, it seems like Moose Ridge cares about their customers. We walked in gave him our info then he informed us that we paid through GolfNow and there is nothing he can do for us. So I guess if you book through GolfNow you are a second class customer. We didn't argue because we were exhausted and shocked. Lesson learned never again!
Always a great course
Tee off was at noon on a Sunday, ranger said we could head out right then since no one was on the hole. Pulling up to the first tee box and seeing a hole with no one on it, especially at this course is always a great feeling. Never saw another group in front of us until we made the turn at 10 and even then waiting on a few shots on the back nine I believe we finished in just over four hours.
Course is always in great condition, but its definitely not for the beginners. It's challenging, and will definitely require a few extra balls in the bag, but the scenery and course value is tough to beat anywhere in SE MI.
Great course
This is one of my favorite courses in metro Detroit! You'll feel like you're up north, just be prepared to have a 5 hour round most of the time here.
moose is loose
great course beautiful shape good deal for seniors during the week
Challenging course
The free guide you get is quite helpful. Second time around will be easier as there are numerous blind shots. Overall the course was in very good shape except for the tee boxes were pretty ragged. A lot of uneven lies on this course.
Great Course
Not adding much that already hasnt been said - course was in great shape. Truly feels like an up north golf course. Only negative is that on 6 or 7 of the holes its cart path only which can cause for quite the trek depending on your tee shot. Worth every penny and should be played.
Great course
Key is hitting your drive straight & keep it in the fairway.
One of the most beautiful courses in S/E Michigan
The course is cut out of the woods; beautiful with no homes on the course. Topography was outstanding, Course maintenance was superb. Just a few miles south of the I 96 and Kensington Exit.
Great Course
One of my favorite tracks in SE Michigan. A must play.
One of Metro Detroit's Finest
My friends and I played Moose Ridge today after finding a GolfNow deal for $25. Possibly the best $25 I ever spent on golf. The course was in fantastic shape and was challenging yet fair if you could keep the ball in play. Right when we got there we were welcomed by the staff and the man working the pro shop. The man supplied us with yardage books, advice about the course and was nothing but courteous. The carts ran smooth and the course played in about four hours which was fantastic for a course as difficult as this. Would definitely play here again even if I end up paying in the $40s range.
Nice course overpriced
Not bad, they shouldn't be able to charge cart fees, because most of the holes are roped off. Don't take a senior or someone who has a hard time walking a lot, it will be rough on them. This course is nice in decent condition. Tee boxes are chunked up fairways are good and the greens were well manicured.
Wish I could afford it more often
Played Moose Ridge for the first time early Spring and even then, except for a couple greens, the course was in good shape. A very fun track that slightly penalizes you if you don't keep the ball in play. Felt like I was playing up north. Beautiful holes to look at and play. My only complaint is that the price is so steep to play frequently. And like another review, I don't mind the kids making a few bucks to clean clubs, but to attack our cart while we're putting on 18 is a little aggressive.
Great Course for the $$
I really like this course and play it all the time. Two items that I can't stand. 1:Six of the Par 4's you can't take carts of the path!
2: I'm happy to give a few $$ to the boys cleaning the clubs. However, I did not ask for it so please STOP that!
A great day
The course & driving range were in great shape. The greens were about 13 on the stemp (fast!)
Awesome piece of property!
What a great round. The course will force you to place your ball properly as the rough is beyond unforgiving, and the elevation change on almost every hole comes into to play with the majority of your shots.
The greens are in great shape and a lot of real estate has been allocated for the greens as they are big, and will make you work. The same can be said for the tee's, they are very big and well maintained, and yes the fairways are in the same pristine condition as the tee's and green's also.
The course was a treat to play as it was our first time at Moose Ridge but we can not wait to get back and play it again now that we have a better understanding of the property.
This is a must play course for anyone who enjoys a truly beautiful course, each hole is secluded from the others by the layout of the course, and the elevation changes throughout the course are incredible. Had dinner at the course when we finished and it was as good as the round of golf, the owners and management of Moose Ridge have an outstanding facility and we will be back soon to play again.
Moose is awesome
Love this track. But you'd better have an A+ driving game- tee shots are critical to keep in play. Whatever tee box you think you should play, move up one or you will be miserable. It plays much longer than the yardage on the card. 2 of the guys in our group tried to play my box for 4 holes and then moved up. If you're not at least 250+ straight down the middle, better play the whites. One of the best courses in the area.
Nice Course, keep reading...
Pro Shop got us off in front of the 5 some and the group in front of us asked if we wanted to play through on #1, great start. Nice layout, course was in great shape and the greens were rolling at about a 10. Stayed for some lunch on the deck, try the bison burger, delicious.
And now the caveat...if I wanted to walk the course I would not have paid $55 to ride. The signs that said 90 degree rule should have said "grab your laser and two clubs on #1 because you are going to be doing that often throughout your round" I understand that they want to keep the course as nice as possible but there were over 50% of the holes that were roped off and would not allow carts in. It appears this is the way it is all the time too which makes this one of those things that make you say hmmmmm...
With all that said, I am not here to bash the course because it is gorgeous. However I do feel like it is only fair for those of you that have not played here to know what you are getting into.
Course in great shape!!!
Played round with foursome in 4.5 hours on Sunday, 7/6 with an 11:30am tee time. Course is great shape and greens were rolling nice. I've played this course twice this year and can't wait to come back for a third round. If you are looking for an up north feel with elevation changes and beautiful scenery this course is for you! Beverage cart came through 3 or 4 times during our round and the Italian wrap hit the spot on the turn. Overall great experience!
