Brookside Golf Club - C.W. Koiner Course

I booked Brookside on a whim, after talking to playing partners from last week.

my turn came after a concert had been held.

The track wondered all over the place.

I joined a good player and another player who was strong but didn't know what caused ballflight, and his girlfriend (?) who went only for the ride..

I had a good round going the front nine, but not so much the back nine.

The mountain scenery was beautiful. I'll be back. Had a good time.

There aren’t any water jug stations on Koiner so the Marshall was driving around with 5 gal jug of water in their cart a few times (mostly on the front) which was nice, the cart lady was making her rounds too but all her stuff obviously costs $.

Course is actually in great shape for summer, they had a soccer match recently at the rosebowl on Sunday and i don’t know if they used the course as a parking lot but if they did the grounds crew are doing a great job maintaining the course cause usually after football games the course is beat up from being used as a parking lot.

Played Monday and fairways were being aerated. Not just small holes but major deep core aeration. Needs at least a couple of weeks to heal. Green good, tees good, bunkers ok. Fairways are GUR in my opinion.

We were the second to the last off before a tournament, the group in front of us rolled in late, then proceeded to take 5.5hrs to play. The course marshal did nothing to move them along. The guys we were playing with had to quit early because of how long the round was taking. Not a good experience at all. And to top it off I overheard one of the players in front of us saying he shot an 82 when I watched him drop on multiple holes! What a joke!

Had a golf partner emergency and had to call and cancel about 6 hours before our actual tee time. I was charged $70 and didn’t even play the round.

If it’s the golf app then shame on you. You know you had six hours to fill that great spot. It was only because I couldn’t make it do to outside circumstances- I can’t get a refund.

Don’t need that kind of customer service in this economy

The course is in very good shape (I played #1) however the pace of play was grueling. I wish a marshal would’ve been available to have groups speed up the pace of play.

So I’ve been playing this course for a while now. Was always a good value. This time it was $72! Why the big jump in price?

Guess we will go to different courses until the price goes back to where it was.

Look. Brookside uses the course as a parking lot. Do not gets beat up pretty badly. The conditions doesn’t merit the price.

Also, I put that I wouldn’t recommend this course, that’s because of the increase in price.

Nestled next to the Rose Bowl with hills all around, the views are nice. The layout works well with bunkers set at challenging locations. My only issue was that some of the grounds were overly saturated even though the weather has been dry. On more than one occasion near or on the green, my ball stuck in the ground instead of carrying, and the speed on the greens was unpredictable from hole to hole.
