Both course are fun to play
#1 Plays longer and has many wonderfully shaped holes. A tough challenge for all golfers.
Unfortunately the courses have to be shared with the Rose Bowl sponsored events, Concerts, Festivals, Sporting and many other public events take place this time of the year. Along with the large amount players that enjoy playing a lot of rounds here.
The courses, mostly Nay#2 are showing lots of wear.and tear. The fairways are stressed out, the occasional dirt intersection can be bothersome..
I know that the Greens crew there have an impossible job trying to keep up with all this and they should be commended!
The greens are top notch except#12 (Nay). bunkers are raked and Tee-box’s are in good shape. Place of play is better than most. The Staff is always friendly and helpful.
Still one of my favorite places to play.
Brookside #1
Overall it was good on mid week play but the fairways have too much sands and potholes that’s not fixed like in the middle of the fairways and greens were very challenging cuz they didn’t somehow rolled after punching them it was very difficult to put in greens
This course has a horrible condition
the condition of Greens for the course #2 is really pathetic,
for example, one of the par 3s has a impossible condition to putt
so we Just skipped the putting and decided everyone gets Par
I felt they don’t maintain the condition of the course much
First time playing this course it was fun. Lots of par 4 & 5’s really helped me improve my drive considering I’ve only been golfing for a couple months. Will definitely be coming back
Price reflects course.
Great value for course conditions. Greens were very good, fairways, like most courses now a days, challenged. Because of the low price, I would absolutely return as the pace of play was a steady 4 hours which is in heard of on a Saturday morning. Staff was extremely friendly, from the pro shop that knew how to take care of players according to tee times, to starters directing a new course player to right tee times to Marshals who stuck around to give course advice. I would absolutely recommend to others.
Won't Be Returning
I normally play Griffith Park and was excited to check out Brookside. Luckily, I was paired up with a nice group of guys and the weather was perfect, so I was doing my best to enjoy the time out there. But there sure was a lot of it...pace of play was quite slow. Unfortunately, we also had a couple encounters with rude staff members (literally cussing and insulting my playing partner). At least five balls whizzed by me and people are shouting "fore" left and right, a few in the middle of backswings and putts, of course. Can't say I was able to relax much throughout the extra long round. Between all that and a weirdly slimy Snickers from the beverage cart, I can safely say I won't be returning anytime soon.
P.S. the attached parking lot is small and you'll get a ticket if you park in any of the one-hour spots. No thanks to the unhelpful staff, I finally figured out that D Lot is also available to golfers.
Nice layout but the fairway is not well maintained.
Course Is Beat Up
Courses are beat up by the parking and extracurricular activity they get from events at the Rose Bowl. Vehicles on fairways, thousands of foot traffic walkers, greens that retain footprints due to overwatering (afternoon/twilight golf is murder on putting), and fairway lies that range from decent/almost perfect, to horrific hard pan with tufts of grass like acne everywhere. I've been playing here for 30 years and have never seen the courses in such overall bad condition. Bummer.
Under Constitution
There were so many interruptions; the greens are under construction, and one of the temp greens was plain ugly, workers kept pAssing in front of us, and one of the yelling and whistling, at one point, I had a birdie putt which I uncomfortably missed I can't believe they charge over 60 dollars for it. The golf cart was good with GPS.
I'm not playing here again
Some green is destroyed and some fairway is very terrible
Not bad
The course isn’t bad but the issues they have are things out of their control. The fact it’s used as a parking lot for big events makes the fairs very tough to play out of. The pace of play there is absolutely terrible. They allow people to walk on a long public course which holds everyone up. They close the pro shop early so finding a restroom is challenging and you have to walk a mile away into the parking lot to a very dirty one.
