Golfing with my best girl Photo submitted by cmr041589 on 01/23/2021
Great course conditions
The golf course was in great condition. The fairways were well manicured and the greens were very receptive. Fairways had generous landing areas, but some thought had to be put into approaches. It seems that the majority of the greens were elevated with considerable slope. Overall a fantastic course and I enjoyed playing it. I was disappointed that at the end of the round which was 3:45, we were told the bar at the clubhouse closed at 4 PM. I feel during peak golf season to have the restaurant/bar close at 4 o’clock is very shortsighted on the operators part.
I will definitely be back to play this track. Great value for money.
Great course
Beautiful course, great carts, & loved seeing the planes go by. Friendly staff. Will play there again.
Great course
The course is in great shape. Not overly difficult but challenging at times. The pace always seems a little slow, but not terrible. Love the course, will be back (a lot)
Best value in Savannah
Price of a crappy track. Conditions of an above average track. Staff is amazingly friendly. Water bottles and ice given for free with the round. It was over 95⁰ and that was a blessing. Some mud, but overall very good considering the drought and then the flood. Greens in good but not excellent condition. One or two tee boxes were rock hard. But that's nitpicking. It's well worth the money
Crosswinds condition
Fairways were good. Greens very spotty. All the greens seem to be having grass issues but most were okay.. There were a couple that were very rough. Hoping the greens will improve over the next few weeks.
Best Public Opportunity in Savannah
As a local, Crosswinds has always been a fun tract; unique layout and nice undulating fairways. Course is in better shape than the last time I played (2023); similar green conditions of most courses in the region due to the frost/snow in early 2025 and the drought conditions of the last month. Staff was awesome (Miriam and Liz) and the facilities are in good shape. Looking forward to playing again!
Pace of Play Problems
I decided to play a quick nine on the par-three course this past Sunday afternoon, assuming it might be a little quieter later in the day. Unfortunately, I was wrong—seems like a lot of others had the same idea.
Even though I had a scheduled tee time, there was a large crowd of walk-ups when I arrived, making it feel like booking online didn’t matter much. I ended up stuck behind three foursomes, all of whom were Korean players. The pace of play was, honestly, a major issue. While everyone deserves the chance to enjoy their round, courtesy and basic course etiquette go a long way. Unfortunately, there was a lack of consideration shown to other players that afternoon—golf carts were being driven everywhere, players were running across greens, and multiple groups skipped ahead without regard for tee times or those waiting patiently.
It took over two hours and twenty minutes to finish nine holes on a par-three course where the longest hole is around 150 yards. That’s easily the longest round I’ve ever played on this track. At one point, I counted at least five other single players stacked up behind me, creating a frustrating bottleneck. The staff may need to reassess how tee times are enforced and how walk-up traffic is managed, especially during peak hours.
That said, the course itself was in decent condition. A few greens are starting to show signs of Poa annua creeping in but that’s understandable for a par-three layout that likely takes second priority behind the main course. Still, the turf was playable, and the weather was absolutely perfect.
All in all, it wasn’t the relaxing round I had hoped for. The slow pace and lack of etiquette took away from what could have been an enjoyable afternoon. While I appreciate the facility and have had better experiences here in the past, I’ll probably take a break from this course for a while and explore some other options in the area with better pace management.
Greens were bad
Love this course generally but the greens were not good which made putting total guess work
Wow - what happened?
Funny when I heard management of Crosswinds acquired Henderson I was optimistic we would have 2 great courses. Sadly Crosswinds has deteriorated sharply - greens were horrible, fairways barely an advantage to rough, tees are are a disgusting mess. We got the supposed Hot Deal on Golf Now but course is a $25 course at best. All they have done is raise prices, standards have gone down the toilet. Nice structure at the driving range - good thing cause at this pace that may be what this course becomes.
